Spa Hotels in Chiang Mai

"The hotel feels stuck in another era. Everything is dated and pale, with interiors that seem from the 1980s. The shower has separate hot and cold valves, weak pressure, and poor temperature control. Lighting in the bathroom is dim and cold, making it hard to see clearly. The beds are extremely hard. It took a few nights to get used to them, but they’re still uncomfortable. Some staff are polite, others quite rude. When I extended my stay, they couldn’t adjust the rate, so I had to rebook through Trip.com. Breakfast is mediocre, with limited edible options. The location is great, right by the night market and across from the Marriott. The gym is excellent and well equipped, probably the best part of the hotel. The terrace pool also looks nice. The place has good potential, but it feels like a ghost of what it once was. Many facilities are closed or underused. If they ever renovate it, it could become a top hotel again. For now, it’s an affordable but tired four-star at best."

"The room was smaller than I expected, roughly 12 square meters excluding the bathroom. The hotel caters to a lot of tour groups for meals, which made parking difficult during peak dining hours. However, they do have four parking lots and offer an electric buggy shuttle service. Plenty of restaurants are also within walking distance. There's no elevator to the third floor, which was quite a hassle with two large suitcases. Given the inconvenience, I decided to just extend my stay for a few more days to finish my business before moving elsewhere."

"While the two-night stay was satisfactory, there's room for improvement. The lobby staff should be trained to decline requests gracefully, offering alternative solutions. Additionally, the afternoon shift should prioritize guest interactions over phone calls. It was observed that a staff member during the two-night stay exhibited similar behavior, neglecting guests and failing to acknowledge those passing through the lobby."

"I recently stayed at Mövenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent – right in the heart of the city, making it very convenient for exploring the night bazaar and nearby attractions. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They also offer a complimentary sweet fondue from 5–7 pm.  The only downside for me was that the rooms feel a bit outdated and could use some refreshing. However, they were still comfortable and clean. Overall, it’s a good choice if you’re looking for a hotel with great service and a central location in Chiang Mai."

"One of the best breakfast buffet in Thailand. Good size gym with well stocked workout equipment, pool, kids pool and play area, rooftop bar and overall great amenities. You all are doing good, keep it up. Personal Experience: The bed was comfortable and my overall experience was great. Very clean and the sheets felt like brand new when slept on it. The main rooftop was closed during my visit, hope to experience it during my next trip. Areas of improvement: Could work on greeting guests upon arrival. 5 star hotels like Maladee did good for me and many others like the Taj in India do a phenomenal job at welcoming guests. A few complimentary snacks, tea and coffee would be great in the room. This could include any cup noodle or a good granola bar for guests especially the ones arriving late at night and just want a bite. You can still charge for extra amenities like the beer or other snack. There is ample staff here, a small tour of the hotel would be awesome especially when the guest request it."

"The hotel is in a prime location, right by the Sunday Night Market and on a major street, making transportation pickups very convenient. The exterior features a spacious parking lot, which was great for our airport transfer. The property also offers valuable amenities such as a pool and coin-operated laundry. The staff were kind and accommodating, adding a positive touch to our stay. However, the rooms were disappointing compared to the photos shown online. The images featured remodeled rooms, but the rooms—particularly those with purple accents—were older and less appealing. Our room had a dirty bathtub with a moldy shower curtain liner and equally gross shower ventilation fan, outdated or broken furniture, and a TV that stopped working on our last night. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was weak during the day, making it challenging to stay connected. The breakfast was also overly oily, prompting us to choose other dining options after the first morning. While the location and staff made our stay convenient and pleasant in some respects, the outdated and poorly maintained rooms make me question how this is listed as a four-star hotel. I can’t recommend this hotel based solely on its location, and I suggest that management focus on updating the rooms and improving cleanliness and the quality of breakfast."

"I had an amazing stay at Anyin Lanna Resort in Chiang Mai! The girls made me feel so incredibly welcome from the very first moment. The service is truly 10/10 — friendly, helpful, and always cheerful. They assist you with all the local information you need. The hotel has such a lovely and intimate atmosphere. Every day you get free water and soft drinks in your room. The rooms are spacious, clean, and have a nice balcony. You can also do your laundry here, which is very convenient. Plus, they offer a free airport transfer! Li Long, Nemmy, and Aun are absolutely wonderful — so kind and caring. I even received a beautiful handmade bag as a gift, made right here in Chiang Mai. I’m really grateful for everything. Keep up the great work, girls — thank you so much! ❤️"

"A truly unforgettable first trip to Chiang Mai, all thanks to Chala Number 6. This was my first time staying at a boutique hotel, and it completely exceeded my expectations. When our driver dropped us by the roadside, I was briefly unsure—there was no typical drop-off area, and the hotel was nestled beside a school. I started worrying if I’d made the right choice, especially with my mom traveling with me. But those doubts vanished the moment the bellboy crossed the street to greet us and carry our bags. From that point on, everything was seamless. Our room was ready before the official check-in time (bonus point right there 🍪). The grounds are beautifully landscaped and incredibly Instagram-worthy. Traditional music plays softly in the background, creating a calming, almost spiritual atmosphere. One of the biggest surprises? Complimentary afternoon tea from 2pm to 4pm. I’m usually not a fan of traditional desserts, but theirs were so thoughtfully curated and visually stunning—some even reminded me of Nyonya kuih from home. Breakfast was simple but included local Thai items. One dish made from sticky rice, coconut milk, and egg wrapped in banana leaves brought back memories for my mom—it tasted just like her childhood. It rained almost every day during our stay, and at night we could hear the sounds of nature—croaking toads and gentle rainfall. My mom said it felt like we had traveled back in time. There’s also a temple right across the road. As someone who’s a little superstitious, I found comfort in that peaceful presence 😅. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better. The Sunday Market literally starts at the hotel’s doorstep, and there’s a 7-Eleven just a 2-minute walk away. A few minutes further is Lila Thai Massage—I didn’t get to try it myself, but I’ve heard nothing but great reviews. Chala Number 6 made this mother-daughter trip so special. I’m truly grateful for the kind service, the thoughtful details, and the peaceful atmosphere. The price? Well worth it. Thank you, Chala Number 6, for taking such good care of us. We’ll remember this stay for a long time. 🙇♀️"

"I recently stayed at this hotel during a business trip, and overall, I was very impressed. From the moment you step into the lobby, the hotel exudes a sense of professionalism and comfort. The rooms are modern, and new. The meeting facilities are equally impressive—well-equipped, with excellent layout and ambiance suitable for executive discussions. The swimming pool, gym, and other amenities are also top class. Breakfast deserves a special mention—it is truly one of the best I’ve experienced in my travels. The variety, quality, and presentation exceeded expectations and staff is well care. That said, there was an incident during our meeting where an external power cut occurred. While it was not the hotel’s fault, it became clear that the staff did not have a proper SOP in place to manage the situation. It caused some disruption, though I did notice their genuine effort to accommodate us as best as they could. Another small point: staff at the lobby were professional but not always warm with their greetings. A smile goes a long way in hospitality, especially for frequent travelers. Despite these points, I still highly recommend this hotel. The quality of the facilities, the comfort of the stay, and the overall standard of service make it an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers."
