"We drove there. After parking, a shuttle bus picked us up. The journey was thrilling. Duoyishu Village, where we were staying, still retains traditional ways of working and living (the village itself is a bit primitive). The B&B is inside the village, with a stunning view of the terraced fields and Azheke Village in the distance!
We had our own little room, and the food was delicious!"
"Jackys Guesthouse is in a very beautiful spot, the views from the rooms are stunning. The room was very clean and comfortable.
Jacky has fluent English. was available to help us plan hikes in the area , book rides and was very helpful in everything. Food was great too!!
Definitely would go back to his guesthouse."
"The view is just as beautiful as it looks, and location wise it is ideal. The room was clean and stunning views.
The food was good when it was available, but many of the options on the menu were not available. Likewise, there was no water in the outdoor pool as advertised. The staff also said they didn’t know how to make cocktails, despite having a bar with all spirits available.
Finally, I would recommend AGAINST booking a car transit through the hotel. We ended up missing our train from Kunming because the driver (and her friend, who was brought along for the ride) stopped multiple times, including for long snack breaks, so we arrived 20 minutes after our train time."
"We were on a family road trip and expected to arrive at the hotel around 11 PM. We contacted the owner beforehand to see if they had dinner options, but since it was late and all the surrounding restaurants were closed, including the hotel chefs, the owner kindly cooked for us. He prepared several dishes, which were delicious, reasonably priced, and very generous in portion size. The owner also thoughtfully prepared some white fungus soup for us, which helped relieve the fatigue of the six-hour drive. Everyone in our group praised it highly, saying it was the most satisfying meal of our Yunnan trip. The guesthouse paid great attention to detail – a truly warm and welcoming place! We wish the owner great success in their business!"
"This is by far one of our most amazing experience in Yunnan ! The hotel is very well located in the Pugaolao village, with a stunning view on the rice terrace. No need to walk, you can just open your curtain and you will have a mesmerizing sunrise. The owner is an angel, so helpful and nice with her customers. We enjoy a meal with the whole family, party and many more (they have a restaurant in the hotel). I recommend this place more than any other !!! Thank you very much for this amazing stay"
"Canadian traveler stayed 3 nights in late September. Good breakfast. The resort is very nice, restaurant food dishes were tasty, services were excellent. Two rice terraces are within walking distance (Hani and Jiankou). Others are further out, you need to have your own transport.
Off season rates are very affordable. A bit off the off the beaten path. Highly recommended."
"The owner was exceptionally kind; he shared various scenic viewpoints with us, practically acting as a local guide arranging our itinerary. The Haputale viewpoint, our first stop, was absolutely spectacular! After watching the sunset, we returned and had dinner at the owner's restaurant. The prices were very reasonable, and after our meal, the owner even brought us a plate of oranges. In the morning, we were taken to a spot to watch the sunrise over the village's terraced fields; the photos simply couldn't capture the beauty we witnessed with our own eyes. Upon our return, the owner had already prepared delicious red rice noodles with meat and eggs for us. Incredible value for money! The guesthouse itself also features a large viewing platform, offering equally breathtaking views. When it was time for us to check out, we saw the owner was busy, so we simply returned the keys and set off. After we'd walked a short distance, the owner actually came running after us, offering to carry our bags and drive us to the parking lot. As we only had backpacks and no suitcases, we politely declined his offer. To our astonishment, he then insisted on sending us money to cover our parking fee – we were truly moved! He even messaged us with recommendations for scenic viewpoints along our route home. The owner is incredibly thoughtful and genuinely kind. We will absolutely stay here again on our next visit and wholeheartedly recommend it to our friends and family."
"1. The environment of the homestay is great, the view of the terraced fields outside the window is great, the room layout is reasonable and romantic, and the service is meticulous and comfortable. I recommend it.
2. The B&B is clean and tidy, with warm and spacious rooms and enthusiastic service. The room has a panoramic view of the blue terraces and is cost-effective!
3..This B&B is really a hidden gem, it is clean and tidy with convenient transportation, parking is available at the door, the scenery outside the window is beautiful, and the front desk thoughtfully prepares afternoon tea, which is great!
4. The service attitude is good. If there is any problem, you can ask the housekeeper to solve it quickly. You can live safely and securely.
6. It is consistent with the pictures, I like the decoration style, the facilities are complete and clean, I will come again next time.
7. The owner of the B&B is warm and thoughtful, and provided us with a lot of travel suggestions. Thank you very much. The location of the B&B is convenient for transportation, and the blue terraces are also very beautiful.
8. In general, I am very satisfied with the stay this time. The scenery is unbeatable. Outside the window are the layers of terraced fields. It is very comfortable to sit on the sofa, drink coffee and look at the scenery outside the window. I look forward to coming again next time!
9 B&B chooses Atour's mattress, which is really comfortable, moderately soft and hard, and the view is also great👍🏻"
"This hotel is very well located, just next to the main road and only 100 meters from the scenic platform, making it super convenient for visiting the famous rice terraces.
Breakfast is served in a small restaurant downstairs, offering a Chinese-style noodle soup.
The staff were very helpful—the lady at the reception arranged a van for me to return to Mengzi since there’s no fixed bus schedule in the area.
The rooms have a nice view of the terraces and nearby towns, though some buildings partially block the scenery.
The only downside was the bathroom—when taking a shower, water splashed all over the floor because there wasn’t a proper shower enclosure. A glass partition or curtain would really improve this.
Overall, a good stay thanks to the great location and helpful service, just needs a small upgrade in the bathroom!"
"STRONG ADVOCATE: Our stay here was flawless. The kind hospitality from the hosts and the Hani family is truly heart warming. Beautiful views over expansive rice terraces, and the access to walk down into these from your doorstep is truly unparalleled. We sought to do a guided day tour across a few villages on a Saturday with the host, which proved to be incredibly insightful, fluid (responsive to our interests), and capacious. She was able to bring to life much of the content at the Hani Cultural Museum. We ate wonderful home cooked meals here, and caught some lovely dawns; altogether felt truly nurtured - thank you! I truly, whole-heartedly recommend this guest house!"

Excellent
GGuest UserThe hotel is architecturally beautiful, with a good location that offers some view of the terraces. However, due to unkempt vegetation, majority of the promised views have become obscured. Can still walk to the nearby public viewing platform 200m away for a better view.
Service crew is prompt and tries to be as accommodating as possible. Have to understand that Yuanyang itself is a remote rural area with few buildings. For meals, there is no food delivery unlike other touristy areas. But, the hotel kitchen whips up very satisfying home cooked menu using fresh produce at an affordable price. We enjoyed the crispest and most delicious plate of stir fried cabbages here.
More on the food, they do less oil less salt options that are still incredibly tasty and easier on a foreigner palette. Breakfast was simple and tried to focus on natural flavours of the produce, also meaning it had toddler friendly options.
GGuest UserPerfect experience at Flowers. Sam is very dedicated and helpful, room was very large, perfectly clean and the view beautiful.
The location is perfect to start very nice hikings.
GGuest UserI would say everything was great except the room.
Location -- this is the main reason I choose the place. The rice terrace is in front of your room. Superb. There is rooftop to see sunrise too However, the place is not accessible for car. You need to park your car at car park around 300m from the hotel, call the hotel to pick up your luggage and you walk to the hotel by foot. It's not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Service'-- toiletries are generous. Breakfast is great with various options. Rooms are cleaned daily with new top up of toiletries and slippers. We can do laundry too. Detergent are provided.
Why I give amenities 2 stars only? It's because I meed somewhere to give feedback on the room. I stayed for 3 nights at 2nd floor. There are 3 rooms of the same kind. However, my room has weird design. While the other two have perfect squarie room and spacious, our room, at thr most corner is smaller with bad design. There are wall built to cut off a space around 2x3 m. See pictures. It”s hard to put our luggage. There is sofa without tables. I suspect no space to add a table as it will block to walk way, not so confortable.
GGuest UserWe went to Banna and transferred to Yuanyang. The children liked this place very much. The lady at the homestay chatted and sang with the children. The children were very excited after hearing all the flattery. The village is basically inhabited by local farmers, and the children are having a great time strolling around the village feeding chickens, pigs and cows. If the weather is warmer, I would like to stay a few more days.
AAaron CedricI love this hotel! The room is so atmospheric, with large windows connecting you with the beautiful scenery outside. On a foggy day, you cannot see any of the terraces and there's not much to do outside, but the room is at its most magical in the fog... the view looks like a famous Japanese screen of 'pine in mist'... or a Song dynasty painting. Incredibly beautiful.... I wish I spent more time in the room! The location of the hotel is perfect for those who want to see the sunrise over Duoyishu, since you can view it on the roof or, if you want to go to the best viewing platform that's only about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is also semi-walking distance to Azheke Village, which is 45-60 minutes by walking on the ring road. Every morning the hotel serve rice noodle soup using local red rice.... it's quite nourishing to start a day of hiking. Oh, and the boss is really friendly and helpful. He seems to only speak Chinese, but I think he will go out of his way to be helpful if you dont speak Chinese. He makes great recommendations and even seems to be good at forecasting the weather to help you plan your trip. He definitel 'knows the hills.'
Ccdhx7206This is the second time I stayed at Yunshang Terrace Hotel. The hotel is located in the Hani Town of Jingkou, with convenient parking. It is not too far from the main attractions of Yuanyang Terrace.
The hotel service is good, the room is clean and tidy, and it is relatively quiet at night. Because of the floor heating, it is very comfortable at night. In addition, the hotel restaurant is not bad, and the food is more in line with our taste. Finally, we were fortunate to see the spectacular sea of clouds in the early morning of the second day of our stay. The area around the hotel is like a fairyland.
AAnonymous UserThe boss is a lady from Henan Province. She is very welcoming. Before I left, she introduced a chartered car driver to me and reserved an electric blanket for my room. After arriving, we were introduced to the free viewing area and could order food and cook at any time. But to be honest, the room was still a bit cramped and there was barely enough space between the beds. I heard that the voltage on the mountain is unstable and there are always power outages. I also caught one this time🙈
The inn is not far from the Duoyishu Observation Deck, and it only takes ten minutes to walk there. There is a village below, where you can go down to the terraced fields and take a stroll.
After I went there, I realized that the price and quality of accommodation at Yuanyang Rice Terraces vary greatly, especially during holidays, so it depends on your personal preference.
GGuest UserI had a truly great experience staying here one night! I arrived late but was invited to join a dinner party with friendly staff and other guests. The view from the room was absolutely stunning and the room itself was clean and modern. Maybe not the best sound isolation, but you will want to go up to see the sunrise anyways! I definetely recommend staying here in this old and small village rather than in Yuangyang or similar.
GGuest UserWe loved our stay. It was Chinese New Year so it was a bit busy in the area, but our hotel was an oasis. We found the hotel staff helpful and accommodating. This hotel is a good location if you want to hike through the rice terraces and from village to village.
GGuest UserI stayed here for two nights with a friend in the beginning of February and we both loved it. This is not a place for luxury, but for great service! The hosts are genuinely kindhearted, open and will help you with anything to make you comfortable. We stayed in a panoramic view room and the location is right above some rice fields, No need to go to the next door viewing platform that charges ¥70, the view from there and from the rooftop were ansolutely amazing!
