"A Wonderful Stay at Songzhuju Hotel! We stayed at the Songzhuju Hotel for 6 nights and were thoroughly delighted with both the accommodation and the city of Lijiang. Even before our arrival, we felt the genuine care from the staff. Ah Fei contacted us in advance and arranged a transfer from the railway station the day before check-in. Upon arrival, he welcomed us with a traditional tea ceremony and treats, gave us a helpful overview of the hotel, and shared useful information about the city via WeChat. Ah Fei was always available and ready to assist with any questions. In fact, the entire hotel staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The hotel itself is excellent. We loved its location within the Ancient City, not far from the North Gate. This made it easy and quick to walk out to the main road to catch a taxi (since vehicles are not allowed inside the Ancient City), while still being immersed in the old town atmosphere. Importantly, it wasn’t in the busiest tourist hub—there were no crowds right next to the hotel, and it was quiet in the evenings and at night. Our room was a two-level family room, very cozy, clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, crisp white linens, and daily housekeeping. We also liked the breakfast—a traditional Chinese set menu (not a buffet)—which was delicious and authentic. I’d also like to share some thoughts on Lijiang itself. Initially, we planned to spend only 4 days here, but due to issues with our hotel in Dali, we left it earlier and extended our stay in Lijiang—and we were so glad we did it! Lijiang is absolutely charming. Even 6 days weren’t enough to fully explore it. Beyond the obvious pleasure of wandering through the Ancient City, I highly recommend: - Trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Tinghua Valley Lijiang Flowers—an incredibly beautiful botanical garden with fairy-tale views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Shuhe Ancient Town - Climbing up to Wangu Tower on Lion Hill in the Ancient City for sunset views. We explored all these places independently, booking DiDi rides and purchasing entrance tickets via Trip.com. However, if needed, Ah Fei can help organizing any tours. Also, if you’re not planning to continue toward Shangri-La, I strongly recommend taking a day trip from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The best option is the trek from Halfway Guesthouse to Tina’s Guesthouse (or Teacher Zhang’s Guesthouse). This hike was probably the most memorable highlight of my entire month-long trip to China—the views are simply breathtaking. In summary, we absolutely enjoyed both: the region and the hotel, where we were able to have very comfortable rest after busy days filled with excursions and long walks. Huge thanks to the entire staff!"

"The room was clean and tidy, with a distinct Lijiang style, and the overall environment was comfortable. The owner was very kind and enthusiastic, and treated guests with warmth. On the day we arrived, he helped us carry our luggage, and the day before we left, he told us we could leave our luggage in the room if we were leaving early. The next day, we felt very comfortable leaving our luggage in the room, and the owner brought it down for us. When we met him as we were leaving, he even offered to bring our luggage to us later if we needed it at night. The landlady was also very warm, constantly offering us water as we left. We felt very comfortable and happy staying here."

"This hotel is a beautifully restored old house that has been converted into a boutique hotel. It has a very distinctive character, with a classic wooden design. The hotel is clean, and the staff are extremely kind and welcoming. They are always ready to offer guests warm milk and tea. However, the rooms are not soundproof, so quite a lot of noise can be heard inside. The breakfast is entirely Chinese, with no options for guests who prefer a Western-style breakfast. We booked the largest room, but because of the traditional architecture, it does not have practical windows, which makes it feel a little enclosed. Also, the shower water was cold when we tried to use it early in the morning."

"The room was spotless and tidy, and the owner was incredibly warm and attentive. The environment is very quiet and peaceful. It's about a 10-minute walk from Lijiang Ancient Town, making transportation super convenient. The value for money here is absolutely fantastic! You guys can definitely come to this place with confidence!"

"This guesthouse is very close to the North Gate of the old town, so the location is great. It's also convenient for parking, as the car park is not far from the guesthouse. The decor has a very traditional ******* style, which is quite unique and I was very pleased with it. The owner is really nice and they have their own restaurant, so we conveniently had a yak hotpot meal there. The only issue was that our first room was too close to the street and too noisy. There were a few young people singing and dancing outside which disturbed our rest, but after a quick chat, they were very understanding and dispersed. The next day, we mentioned it to the owner and they helped us switch rooms, and we had a very good rest after that."

"The B&B has a unique style and a charming courtyard. The room was very clean. The owner, a Northerner, was incredibly friendly and helpful. Since parking on the street and nearby is expensive, they directed us to a very affordable parking lot and shared tips on how to park for only 10 yuan a day. We really appreciate it!"

"We enjoyed our stay at 在山也. The owners and staff were incredibly helpful - they not only helped us with our luggages, provided us with great recommendations for food and tips for various activities but also offered us tea every day during our stay. We even got offered 鲜花饼 when we checked in! 🤤 The room was comfortable and we had fun with the smart room controls with 小度. The sound of the toilet flushing can be a little noisy. For people who are sensitive to sounds, singing from nearby bars can be heard from the room. Location wise, the B&B is located on top of a hill which gave beautiful views of the mountains and Li Jiang Ancient City. Fair warning, the steps can be slippery when wet. We would recommend this hotel!"

"Beautiful place to stay! The traditional style and decor is beautiful, the amenities are great and bathroom is modern and nice. There’s a nice courtyard to sit in and sitting areas. The owner and staff were very helpful and friendly and the owner spoke English. She cared for me when I got sick as well. I had a wonderful time hanging out with the owner and some other guests having traditional drinks and snacks. There was free fruit and cute cats. The location is great in the old town with lots of restaurants and shops around. I would definitely stay here again! Great price."

"I was so tired after my trip that it took me a few days to recover before I remembered to write a review. This was my first time staying in a multi-person guesthouse room, and the courtyard environment was pretty good. The viewing platform offered a partial view of the city, and the public areas and shower rooms were clean and tidy. It actually felt a bit like home. Most importantly, it's very close to Dukezong Ancient City, the Great Prayer Wheel, Guishan Park, Sifang Street, and Moonlight Square – you can just stroll there. Behind the guesthouse is Baiji Temple, which you can also walk up to in about an hour and a half to two hours. There are many golden prayer flags, and it's great for photos if the weather is good… Oh, and the museum next to Guishan is worth a visit. The guesthouse host was a bit shy but very nice. On the first day, he'll show you around the common areas. The guesthouse provides 24-hour hot water, which you can get yourself. The owners are all very kind. On the day I left, I had to catch an early bus. As I was walking to the door, I happened to run into the owner who was just returning after dropping someone off, and he specifically drove me to a good spot to catch a taxi below the ancient city. If you need to leave early, you can ask the owner the day before if they're available to give you a ride. Overall, my first experience staying in a multi-person room was quite good."

"The location is fantastic, right in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. The room was spotlessly clean, and the bed was tidy. The biggest surprise was the amazing atmosphere in the common areas, with a terrace, bar, and restaurant – perfect for chatting with travelers from all over the world in the evening. The staff were super friendly and patiently helped resolve any issues. It's highly recommended for backpackers, solo travelers, and small study groups. Great value for money, I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Kunming!"
