We are Malaysian & can speak mandarin. Don’t worry if you’re non-chinese speaker, they will try their best to communicate with you.
Sonzhuju Coffee & Tea Holiday Villa is convenient for those who bring big luggage. They have a service to help carry your luggage too, from the main road (approx 170m). And please let them know once you arrived at the main road! The hotel is away from loud noise & busy from the main area. Cosy place & strategic for us staying in 3D2N. The room was clean. Breakfast included, but for Muslims, please mention that you’re Muslim, then they will prepare you veggie options. And you can choose to have your meal in your room or their eating area. Ai Fei, a local host from the hotel, was very helpful in arranging our customised tour trip. We texted the hotel via WeChat 8–9 days prior to our arrival in Lijiang. We asked if there was any local there who could advise us on the trip and straightaway they made a group for discussion. He'd make sure that we were all okay & happy to discuss our plan to visit any area that we would like to go to. He arranged our private car trip to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley and brought the ticket for us too. Upon we'd arrived at the hotel, he served us a welcome tea, fruit and flower cake. From the next morning we are going to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley. He advised us on what the do’s and don't prior to our trip. The private driver that he helped arrange for us was also very helpful & patient to ensure that we felt safe going to the place (group chat). He also helped to arrange a private car for us to Shangri-la. Overall, he made our plan and trip smoothly. As for the Muslims, you can ask him or the hotel host to recommend where the nearest Muslim restaurant they will definitely find for you. Overall, definitely recommend staying here. We are happy with our stay here.

This hotel is great! The room looks exactly like the pictures online. The location is super convenient for getting around. They even rent out electric scooters on-site, and the staff are really helpful with directions. As someone from Malaysia who isn't familiar with the area, renting a scooter and following their explanations and maps was no problem at all 😂.
They also offer a shuttle service to Lijiang, which is really cost-effective and convenient. They pick you up right at the entrance. You can ask the friendly guys at the front desk – it's truly a one-stop service! 👍🙏
💰 Fair price ✅
💰 Scooter rental, super cheap ✅
Clean and tidy environment ✅

Facilities: The decor is very ******* in style, with wood being the predominant material in the rooms. It might not have all the amenities of a typical hotel, but it's full of character.
Cleanliness: It's quite clean, though there's a faint, elusive yak smell in the hallways (not entirely sure, so beware if you're sensitive to smells); the owner has several cats, which is a huge plus for cat lovers.
Environment: The location is right within the ancient town, just over 900 meters from its center.
Service: The service is very attentive, and the breakfast is delicious. There were also foreigners staying here.
Free airport/high-speed train station/bus station pickup or drop-off: It seems this service is no longer available, but it's very close to the train station, about a 5 km taxi ride, so it won't cost much.

Fantastic location and warm service made my Lijiang experience truly exceptional. I'd love to come back to witness the beautiful 'sunrise over the golden mountain' again.
【Snow Mountain View】Afternoon Tea: The owner personally selected this Dianhong tea from the tea plantation. Even I, who don't usually drink tea, fell in love with it.

I had an amazing stay here which was my favourite after travelling to China for a month.
Well located in a quieter and more peaceful section of the ancient town. The design of the hotel itself was stunning!
Despite the traditional design, the hotel contained completely modern amenities like smart toilets, bed heaters, AC and fast wifi.
The highlight though is the exceptional service from the attentive staff and the lovely hotel owner. They are helpful with recommendations, provide pickup service so you don’t have to carry your luggage through the ancient town and overall provides a very homely and comforting atmosphere. I was even invited to dinner and shared fruits, tea and snacks with me!
If that isn’t enough to convince you, they also have four super cute cats!
Would definitely recommend staying here if you’re coming to Lijiang.

Had an amazing stay in the ancient town! The B&B's location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of the old city, super close to the North Gate. Stepping out, you're immediately in the scenic ancient town, no wasted steps at all. The environment is exceptionally clean and elegant, with a fantastic ambiance that makes you feel relaxed the moment you arrive. A special thank you to the owner for their warm hospitality; the service was incredibly polite and thoughtful. They even kindly upgraded our room for free, giving us more space and comfort – truly a delightful surprise! Encountering such a thoughtful B&B in the Year of the Horse feels like good luck for success is coming my way. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the ancient town. I'll definitely stay here again next time!

Located just outside the north gate of Lijiang Old Town, the location is a big plus — you’re just a short walk into the ancient town, but without the noise and crowds. More importantly, since it’s not inside the old town, it’s very easy to take a cab directly to the doorstep (cars are not allowed within the ancient city), which makes arrival and luggage handling much more convenient.
What stood out most was the hospitality. The boss, who is from Tianjin, is incredibly friendly and welcoming — the kind who chats with guests, offers tea, and makes you feel right at home. The courtyard is full of greenery and flowers, creating a calm, cosy space to relax after a day out. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and some areas even offer nice views over the old town.

The location is absolutely perfect! Didi (ride-sharing service) can drop you off right at the entrance. It's a convenient ten-minute walk to the Dukezong Ancient City photo spots. There are also many costume rental shops nearby, which was great for starting my ******* costume experience in the morning and returning the outfits at night. I went to the costume shop recommended by the owner, and I was very satisfied. The owner was incredibly thoughtful and gave me tips for altitude sickness. The guesthouse also provides free shawls, hats, and umbrellas, which was a nice touch. It's a shame the clouds were too thick to see the stars from the room, and I didn't get to use the bathtub as I was worried about altitude sickness. The room is very spacious; I could open two 28-inch suitcases and still have plenty of room to walk around. The room description and photos were accurate. We also thoroughly enjoyed the hot ******* food at the restaurant just down the street, as Malaysians (msia people) we were very impressed.

The hotel was in a very convenient and prime location just at the entrance of Dali Ancient City. There are a lot of food options and convenience stores just right outside the hotel both during the day and at night.
The service was inpeccable, with the hotel owner helping to carry my luggage to my room or to the car, or to help me with transport arrangements etc. The room was also clean and cosy, with all the listed amenities. Would recommend for sure!

The hotel has a great location, right in Jianshui Ancient Town, with free parking right outside.
The guesthouse is decorated in a very stylish way. The rooms are on the third floor, with a huge living room and a view of the lake near the Confucian Temple – a beautiful view indeed.
The rooms are quite large, with a wooden interior design. It's not far from Lotus Island and Xianghui Bridge bus station.

MMindyRCouldn't have asked for a better stay! The room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, communicating regularly via WeChat to make sure I had everything I needed. The location was great - just high enough to have a great view, not too many stairs down to the main square and not too many stairs back up to a convenient pick up spot just outside the old town.
GGuest UserA 10 star experience
From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the two Mo sisters and their adorable feline companions, Pirate (the black cat) and Sweet Tooth (the brown one).
Everything about this stay—from the location and decor to the impeccable cleanliness and service—deserves 10 stars. The Mo sisters are incredibly friendly, chatty, and helpful, making the entire place feel like a beautifully maintained, quaint home.
A few highlights:
Thoughtful Details: The beds come equipped with heating pads for colder nights, which was such a nice touch.
Amenities: I absolutely loved the peaceful courtyard and the rooftop area.
Service: They are very attentive; for instance, if you need brighter reading lights, you just have to ask.
The Atmosphere: The garden is lovingly cared for and adds so much to the vibe.
Even as a dedicated dog lover, I have to admit that Pirate and Sweet Tooth completely won me over. If you are looking for a stay with character and heart, this is it!
LLendanearFamily owned Hotel inside the ancient city boundaries. Quaint Tea House style hotel that doesn’t quite pull it off. The owner and her staff are lovely and will do anything to help you but the rooms are very small and run down. It is the old town and they are restricted by government ordinances, but it just appears old. I think there are many better hotels around but most likely at a premium in price.
ZZhuomuniaoAn absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel is located near the mountaintop, and our room had a balcony with panoramic views of the ancient city. On a clear day, you can even see the snow-capped mountains in the distance! The staff member (小哥) messaged me beforehand with directions to the drop-off point. When we arrived, two people came to help us with our luggage and brought us to the hotel. They also gave us fantastic recommendations for restaurants and local attractions, which were incredibly helpful. The most touching gesture was on our departure day; we had to catch a high-speed train and were returning from Baisha Ancient Town. The staff member thoughtfully moved our luggage to the pick-up point ahead of time, which saved us so much time! I'm truly grateful! I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit! 😀
GGuest UserFinding a beautiful and comfortable guesthouse in Lijiang's Shuhe Ancient Town is pure bliss! Guanxin Inn is perfectly situated in the heart of the ancient town, offering convenient access and surrounded by picturesque mountains and clear waters. The fresh air instantly puts you at ease. The bedding in the rooms is incredibly comfortable, making you feel right at home with its warmth and softness, guaranteeing a good night's sleep every time. The service is also incredibly attentive, making you feel welcome and cared for from check-in to check-out. Not only are the views enchanting, but you also get to enjoy peace and tranquility here, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing getaway. If you appreciate a quiet and elegant environment, this place will definitely meet your expectations!
GGuest UserThis was truly a unique experience! The price was great, the environment was lovely, and the service was incredibly thoughtful. The front desk lady meticulously explained how to see the 'sunrise over the golden mountains' and how to explore Lijiang. The best part? The guesthouse owner turned out to be from my hometown in Chongqing, and even our neighbor! What a small world, you couldn't make this up. We drank tea in the afternoon and had drinks together in the evening – they were so incredibly hospitable! 😍 Next time I'm in Lijiang, I'm definitely staying here again. The emotional value was off the charts! 💯 Below are some real photos I took this morning. Friends, if you're going to Lijiang, this guesthouse should be your top choice.
MM509547****The guesthouse has a fantastic location, just a 5-minute walk to the center of the old town. The owner was incredibly welcoming, offering to help with luggage and providing travel tips. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and stylishly decorated. Although it's on the street, it was very quiet at night; the attention to detail was excellent. My stay was perfect for a few days, and the value for money was fantastic. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Lijiang!
NNataliia_MerkulovaExceptional Hospitality – Above & Beyond Every Expectation!
This hotel's kindness truly amazed us! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed—they even provided free airport and train station transfers, which was a huge relief.
The lovely receptionist always asked what time we'd prefer breakfast, making sure everything suited our schedule. We also loved having access to a tea station downstairs, where we could enjoy a proper tea ceremony anytime. And after a long journey, the welcome fruits were such a thoughtful touch!
The room had everything we could possibly need—even small details like a hair tie were provided. The Dyson hairdryer was a nice bonus!
A special thank you to the receptionist (安大喜 Ann) for organizing our trip to Blue Moon Valley. When we realized we'd miss breakfast, she packed it for us the night before—so we still enjoyed a fantastic meal with a mountain view (photo attached!).
Even when we had issues with tour guides, 安大喜 Ann was available 24/7, offering advice and support. She went out of her way to help us in countless ways—this level of care is rare!
We highly recommend this hotel—their personal approach is truly outstanding and makes all the difference. Unforgettable stay—we'll be back!
MmoneymoremoreThe location is fantastic, directly across from the Dali Ancient City Tourist Center. There's a large open space in front of the tourist center, making it very convenient for taxis and parking, though it can get a bit congested during peak hours.
It's a super short walk, only about 100 meters, from the hotel to the south gate of Dali Ancient City.
The hotel service is also excellent. The concierge staff (young women) are incredibly warm and attentive. Any questions I had were answered quickly via WeChat. I feel their service is comparable to Haidilao. You can see the specific services offered in the pictures; there are so many! For laundry and drying, you don't even have to do it yourself; just give your dirty clothes to the concierge, and they'll return them clean the next day.
Every morning, breakfast not only includes a buffet selection but each person can also order a freshly prepared main dish. I think the Zajiang Ersi (noodles with fried sauce) is the best. Although Ersi is made from rice, its texture is quite unique – sticky, moist, not slippery, and a bit chewy. The fried mini sesame balls and fried date balls from the self-serve breakfast are delicious, and the sliced, juicy sausages are also very good. See the pictures for more details.
The room is super spacious, the bed is huge, and the TV is a pop-up type hidden in a cabinet (Room 106).
The afternoon tea is also incredibly exquisite, featuring flower cakes, preserved fruits, fresh fruit, cookies, and three different types of tea.
I'll definitely stay here again if I come back to Dali.
GGuest UserTitle: A perfect blend of tradition and comfort – wish we could have stayed longer!
I only had one night at Grand Joli Demeure · Du Bo Lin | Er·Schr Schrödinger Art Hotel (Big Waterwheel Branch), but it was absolutely memorable. The staff reached out right after I booked, which made me feel well taken care of from the start.
The hotel itself is a beautiful example of traditional Naxi architecture — the ”three courts and one screen wall” style — and feels incredibly cozy. At the same time, the room features a modern, clean, and textured interior that offers the best of both worlds.
What truly made our stay special was the team. Every single staff member was warm, attentive, and thoughtful — they even arranged our transfers. A special shout-out to Qianxi, who was always ready to help, answered all our questions patiently, and gave great recommendations on local attractions and food. We truly felt at home.
Loved the little touches: afternoon tea, a sweet soup in the evening, and the chance to make my own sachet by hand. They also offer a tea-cake making experience in the old town, though sadly we didn't have enough time to join.
Before we left, they thoughtfully gifted us a lovely little farewell present — such a sweet and heartwarming gesture.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for charm, warmth, and thoughtful hospitality. Next time, I’ll definitely stay longer!wa
