The owner is a very, very thoughtful man from Northeast China. Seeing that I was a young woman and worried I wouldn't be able to carry my luggage, he offered to help me carry it upstairs. He's available 24/7 by phone. The location is excellent; it's just a short walk to a taxi stand and very close to the Starlight Night Market, only a few turns away. It's quiet despite being in a bustling area. I mentioned I'm a light sleeper, and he kindly arranged a very quiet room for me on the far side – truly a peaceful oasis. I also rented their electric scooter, and the owner charged it for me every night, so I didn't have to worry about it at all. It was fully charged when I woke up, making it incredibly convenient to get around. Traveling with such kindness made me feel so warm and cared for. Thank you, Uncle! This experience has further enhanced my positive impression of people from Northern China.

Returning to Dali from Jizu Mountain, I temporarily chose to stay at Jinsuo Island. I have been to Dali many times, and this is my first time on the island. This hotel is indeed the most satisfactory one. The room has an unbeatable sea view. You can see the sea and the sunrise while lying on the bed. The facilities are very smart and the hygiene is also very clean. Super cost-effective!
The breakfast in the sea view restaurant is also a little surprise.

Anonymous UserOur stay was wonderful! The room was meticulously clean, even the corners were spotless. The owner was very kind and helpful. The daily breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and genuinely delicious – we were very satisfied. The B&B's location is peaceful yet central, and the courtyard filled with flowers and plants was truly memorable. We loved the room types – the suite with a large bed and floor-to-ceiling windows, and the tatami family room were both very comfortable. My whole family was happy with it.

Took my mom out for a trip and saw Aling's live stream on Douyin. She came across as very practical, genuine, and unpretentious, so we decided to stay for a few days. Overall, it was a really good experience. As soon as you enter the courtyard, there's a water feature with koi fish, which gives a vibrant and lively feel. The two young men working there were incredibly attentive and patient in answering our questions, and their demeanor was very refined. We also had the good fortune to meet a compatible travel couple, Sister Liu and her husband, at Aling's place. It felt like such a serendipitous encounter for people from the north and south to meet here. In the evening, we gathered in Aling's courtyard to chat, drink tea, and share our travel experiences. It was truly delightful. Thank you, Aling, for bringing us all together!

By chance, I booked this guesthouse/hotel located at the top of Lion Rock, and the overall environment and hygiene were excellent. Not only can you get a panoramic view of the ancient city, but you can also see the snow-capped mountains right from your room. The third-floor terrace is very comfortable; in the afternoon, they offer complimentary drinks, and you can enjoy the scenery while basking in the sun, which is incredibly relaxing.
The owner, a young man, is also wonderful – cheerful and kind-hearted. Since I was traveling with my 80-year-old mother to Lijiang this time, the owner was incredibly thoughtful, paying attention to every detail to ensure her comfort.
Bringing my mother here has been a long-cherished wish of mine, and she was very satisfied with her two-day stay at this guesthouse. Many thanks to the owner for making these the best memories for my mother in Lijiang.
Good conscience is the best brand, and kindness is priceless. Wishing the guesthouse continued success and peace of mind!

Yulia_GrA Wonderful Stay at Songzhuju Hotel!
We stayed at the Songzhuju Hotel for 6 nights and were thoroughly delighted with both the accommodation and the city of Lijiang.
Even before our arrival, we felt the genuine care from the staff. Ah Fei contacted us in advance and arranged a transfer from the railway station the day before check-in. Upon arrival, he welcomed us with a traditional tea ceremony and treats, gave us a helpful overview of the hotel, and shared useful information about the city via WeChat. Ah Fei was always available and ready to assist with any questions. In fact, the entire hotel staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly.
The hotel itself is excellent. We loved its location within the Ancient City, not far from the North Gate. This made it easy and quick to walk out to the main road to catch a taxi (since vehicles are not allowed inside the Ancient City), while still being immersed in the old town atmosphere. Importantly, it wasn’t in the busiest tourist hub—there were no crowds right next to the hotel, and it was quiet in the evenings and at night.
Our room was a two-level family room, very cozy, clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, crisp white linens, and daily housekeeping. We also liked the breakfast—a traditional Chinese set menu (not a buffet)—which was delicious and authentic.
I’d also like to share some thoughts on Lijiang itself. Initially, we planned to spend only 4 days here, but due to issues with our hotel in Dali, we left it earlier and extended our stay in Lijiang—and we were so glad we did it! Lijiang is absolutely charming. Even 6 days weren’t enough to fully explore it.
Beyond the obvious pleasure of wandering through the Ancient City, I highly recommend:
- Trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
- Visit Tinghua Valley Lijiang Flowers—an incredibly beautiful botanical garden with fairy-tale views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
- Visit Shuhe Ancient Town
- Climbing up to Wangu Tower on Lion Hill in the Ancient City for sunset views.
We explored all these places independently, booking DiDi rides and purchasing entrance tickets via Trip.com. However, if needed, Ah Fei can help organizing any tours.
Also, if you’re not planning to continue toward Shangri-La, I strongly recommend taking a day trip from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The best option is the trek from Halfway Guesthouse to Tina’s Guesthouse (or Teacher Zhang’s Guesthouse). This hike was probably the most memorable highlight of my entire month-long trip to China—the views are simply breathtaking.
In summary, we absolutely enjoyed both: the region and the hotel, where we were able to have very comfortable rest after busy days filled with excursions and long walks.
Huge thanks to the entire staff!

Guest UserI really made the right choice! This guesthouse is right by the ancient city, very close to the Big Waterwheel, so I didn't have to drag my luggage over cobblestone streets. It was incredibly convenient for getting around, offering a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The courtyard is exquisitely decorated with lush greenery everywhere. The tea room and rooftop terrace are beautiful – every photo I took looked amazing. My room was spotless, and the bedding was soft and comfortable for a good night's sleep. The concierge service was incredibly warm and helpful; they assisted with planning my itinerary and responded quickly to any requests. It was the perfect place to slow down, enjoy some tea, relax, and shake off my travel fatigue.

Guest UserThis was truly a unique experience! The price was great, the environment was lovely, and the service was incredibly thoughtful. The front desk lady meticulously explained how to see the 'sunrise over the golden mountains' and how to explore Lijiang. The best part? The guesthouse owner turned out to be from my hometown in Chongqing, and even our neighbor! What a small world, you couldn't make this up. We drank tea in the afternoon and had drinks together in the evening – they were so incredibly hospitable! 😍 Next time I'm in Lijiang, I'm definitely staying here again. The emotional value was off the charts! 💯 Below are some real photos I took this morning. Friends, if you're going to Lijiang, this guesthouse should be your top choice.

The guesthouse has a fantastic location, just a 5-minute walk to the center of the old town. The owner was incredibly welcoming, offering to help with luggage and providing travel tips. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and stylishly decorated. Although it's on the street, it was very quiet at night; the attention to detail was excellent. My stay was perfect for a few days, and the value for money was fantastic. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Lijiang!
