The room was clean and spacious. There's an early morning shuttle to the airport, which was very punctual. I calculated that I left my room at 5:15 AM, took the 5:20 AM shuttle, and arrived at Terminal 3 before 5:25 AM. Since I had no checked luggage, I was through security by 5:40 AM – super convenient! The only downside is the poor soundproofing; I could clearly hear the phone conversation from the next room at night.

This hotel feels like a natural oxygen bar! It's right next to a lake, and there are so many different types of trees on the property, making the air super fresh. Every morning, I woke up to the sound of birds singing. It's perfect for those driving, as there's ample parking both above ground and in a large underground garage. Within a few minutes' drive, you can find shops and restaurants, and major shopping areas like Nanmendou are just a 10-minute drive away. The staff here are incredibly welcoming. The security guards not only help with parking but also proactively offer to assist with luggage and guide you to the lobby, which was fantastic! Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff even provided information about the swimming pool and gym without me asking. The hotel has a lovely Chinese courtyard style that's very comfortable. My room was clean and tidy, with a balcony and a great wet/dry separation in the bathroom. Each building has security personnel, which is a big plus. If you order takeout, it gets delivered to the first floor, and the security staff arrange for a little robot to bring it to your room – super cool! The breakfast offered a rich variety, including local rice noodles and vermicelli.

This was my first time visiting Fuzhou, and since I was traveling with family during the Chinese New Year, I booked three rooms for three nights. The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Wuyi Square, so you can walk over to watch the flag-raising ceremony, or even just enjoy the view from your room if you don't feel like going out! It's about a kilometer's walk from the hotel to Sanfang Qixiang, where you can really delve into the residences of famous figures from Fuzhou's modern history. On the morning of the first day of Chinese New Year, the hotel even organized a grand worship ceremony and a lion dance performance, which was a great experience for guests. My only suggestion would be: could the laundry facilities be made free of charge? It's a small expense that shouldn't really be charged for. I imagine there are very few hotels left in China that still charge for washing machines and dryers.

I've stayed at this hotel several times when visiting Changle. It's right in the town center, making it super convenient to get anywhere. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, and the breakfast spread is fantastic. The front desk service is particularly excellent. It's also a short bike ride to the beach, so overall it's very convenient. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in town.

I stayed at the Lakeside Hotel by Fuzhou's West Lake, and the environment was truly serene and pleasant. The service was attentive and thoughtful, making me feel right at home. The breakfast was a particular highlight – an impressive array of choices, with both authentic Fujianese snacks and Western dishes done exceptionally well. The fish balls were tender and flavorful, the taro paste was smooth and comforting, and the freshly cooked guobianhu (a local specialty) was piping hot, starting the day off perfectly. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience that I'd highly recommend.

## Review **Ambiance:** I'd say it was just okay, a traditional five-star hotel setup, pretty standard. But I'm not sure if it's because of the humidity in the south, but there was an indescribable smell when I entered the room. **Cleanliness:** The room itself was decent. However, some of the cutlery in the restaurant was a bit dirty. You can see it in the picture if you zoom in – there were hard white spots on the knife. **Service:** The cleaning staff in the guest rooms were very friendly and responsive to requests. However, the front desk service on the 40th floor was just mediocre. I've stayed in many five-diamond hotels of major brands in various cities, and in other cities, the staff always made me feel right at home. But in Fuzhou, they were quite indifferent. The only contact was a perfunctory follow-up call after checking out. I think you could learn from practices in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions, as well as Guangdong. They often have dedicated butlers, and both the front desk and butlers actively contact guests, checking in and showing genuine care. Especially in Guangzhou, the service is so good it almost makes you feel embarrassed! **Food:** The breakfast offered mostly local specialties. I'm someone who isn't usually picky, but I found many dishes unappetizing, and the variety wasn't great. I suppose it's understandable if they're trying to cut costs. **Overall, I didn't have a good experience!**

Traveling with seniors, staying here was a good choice. The location is quite convenient, right in a food street with many dining options. It's about 700m walk to Guan Yue Temple. You can also reach the operating area of the 'Little White Cars' (electric rickshaws/taxis) within a few hundred meters. I suggest the hotel could remind guests at check-in about the most convenient 'Little White Car' pick-up point from the hotel. We spent quite a while looking for it. The room hygiene was acceptable. The window could be opened for fresh air, and the shower had hot water very quickly. The hotel robot delivery service for takeout was very convenient. Areas for improvement: The carpet near the elevator on the fifth floor was particularly dirty, and the air quality there was poor. It was like this for all three days of our stay, suggesting it hasn't been cleaned in a long time.

The InterContinental quality is consistently excellent. The room was spacious, and the 2-meter king-size bed was incredibly comfortable. I loved the Byredo toiletries – they smell amazing! The hotel offers fantastic views of the river, the Ferris wheel, and Jinjiang Bridge, which are stunning both day and night. Plus, there's a shopping mall downstairs, making it super convenient for shopping and dining. Since I was with my younger brother, the hotel provided a complimentary breakfast, which had a great variety of options. Overall, I had a wonderful experience, and I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Quanzhou.

EElizabeth Frances RoseThis place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

GGuest UserLocated inside Zengcuo'an, the restaurant is right downstairs with plenty of food options, making it a great location for those who enjoy shopping and dining. I recommend Mr. Zheng's Restaurant, which also has a branch in Zengcuo'an; their seafood hot pot is delicious, and the service is excellent. The mango sticky rice and sliced meat downstairs are also very tasty. Just outside, there's Zengji Seafood Congee Breakfast Shop, whose congee and oyster omelet are quite good and suitable for breakfast. The beach is about a 10-minute walk away, and you can walk to the music square where there's live music in the evening. The sand is fine, with pebbles and small crabs, which kids enjoy. For the ferry to Gulangyu Island, we booked the 9:10 am ferry, so we had to leave early as the roads are very congested. It took about 50 minutes to reach the pier. We booked a family room, which had two rooms available. It was fine for a family of three with my mother. Everything was disposable and very clean, although the bathroom had a slight odor.

GGuest UserThis hotel truly exceeded our family's expectations. We initially thought it would be an old, run-down star-rated hotel, but upon checking in, we found both the rooms and service to be excellent. The service, in particular, was outstanding – from the front desk to the concierge and housekeeping. They even upgraded our room to one with a sea view! The location is superb, right next to Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, and not far from the Eighth Market. Heping Wharf is also just a short walk away.

AAnonymous UserRoom was really big, and although it was further than I expected, its still of a walkable distance from the airport. Room was big and had plenty of space! Cleanliness wise was actually pretty alright, EXCEPT the toilet. I think it was mentioned by another reviewer that there is a very strong smell i think coming from the drain. It really hits you in the face whenever you open the toilet door, so im quite affected and reluctant to use the toilet lol. But luckily the toilet and bath are separated, so I think if you close the toilet door its still fine. I just hold my breath when opening the toilet door. Also its still bearable for me since im only there for 1 night (im in quanzhou for a 24 hour layover), but otherwise the smell is really not for long stays, so I would say considering the price I paid (and the proximity to the airport) its still an acceptable stay BUT if you're staying there for longer I would recommend looking for other hotels! (Which is a shame really because I like staying in large rooms normally and i think i dont have high standards for my stays as long as its clean, and this room is pretty spacious)

GGuest UserCleanliness: The room was very clean. Environment: Better than expected, with a warm, Instagram-esque decor. The room has a rooftop terrace, which was very comfortable. It's only a 20-30 minute e-bike ride from the southern and northern tourist attractions. Service: The owner was very attentive and personally picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. Amenities: Plenty of hot water, effective air conditioning, and the room comes with disposable bath towels, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, and face towels. A great stay! Highly recommended! 😁

In the mornings, the cleaning staff always greets me warmly, and in the evenings, the front desk even offers a warm drink upon my return. The soundproofing in the room is fantastic; I wasn't disturbed by any outside noise at all. The bedding is soft and comfortable against the skin – getting a good night's sleep after a tiring day of business travel is so crucial. The environment is simple yet elegant, and the public areas are neat and well-maintained. Most importantly, the price is really budget-friendly, making it incredible value for money. 11360195****The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of Gulangyu Island. It's tucked away in a quiet spot but still close to Longtou Road, where all the restaurants are, and attractions like Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Garden. We stayed in Building 9, which was very peaceful. It hardly felt like the bustling National Day holiday, but as soon as we stepped out of the hotel, we were met with throngs of people – truly two different worlds! The hotel has a private back exit for guests that leads to a quiet beach with very few people. The kids absolutely loved it, braving the heat and strong sun for over two hours, catching several small crabs. The hotel used to be a government retreat and is now open to the public. While the facilities and decor are a bit dated, you can tell the original fixtures are still of good quality. The room even came with tea ceremony tools, and the kids had a blast playing tea master – the Dahongpao tea was delicious. The hotel service is outstanding. They offer exclusive shuttle transfers from the ferry terminal to the hotel when you arrive and depart. If you're heading straight to the ferry after sightseeing, you can arrange a time with the hotel, and they'll deliver your luggage to the terminal, allowing you to enjoy your day worry-free. The staff are also incredibly helpful; knowing the kids wanted to play on the beach, they even brought sand-digging tools. When we encountered a staff member on the road and asked for directions to the beach, he simply walked us all the way there. We genuinely loved this hotel and highly recommend it.
