Australian National Museum, Canberra

This national museum is a blend of contemporary geometric design, with a giant ribbon running through the building, using many glass skylights to let in natural light. Pretty cool, out of place, and very different from tradition. The pavilion has a wealth of information on Australian history and people, land, flora and fauna, and will talk a lot about Australian indigenous things. There are exhibits both indoors and outdoors, and you can walk all day if you look slowly.
