Chita Peninsula: A tour of sacred sites: Mount Ryukei, Kushoji Temple, Doun-in Temple

"Kushoji Doun-in" is also designated as the 15th sacred site of Chita Shin-Shikoku and the 6th sacred site of the 33 Owari Kannon Bodhisattvas. It is also the place of worship for Odai, who gave birth to Tokugawa Ieyasu, after her death. If you are tracing the history of the Tokugawa family, you must visit this place. This is a historic temple that history lovers will love. At the main gate of the temple, there is a stone monument that indicates that it is a sacred site. Since Doun-in is built on a hill, if you look back after climbing the stairs in front of the main gate, you can see a great view of the quiet townscape of Agui. To the left of the main gate, The Kannon Bodhisattva, which prays for safe travels, stands facing the main hall. Put your offering there, put your hands together, and go left to the Chozuya (purification fountain). If you purify your hands at the Chozuya and head right towards the main hall, you will see a glass-walled area on your left where you will find a statue of Odai, the mother of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Facing backwards, on the left side of the main gate, there is a shrine office where you can receive a goshuin (red seal). You can receive one by hand, but there are also goshuin stamps that you can stamp freely after worship, so I received one there to commemorate my visit.
