Alberobello Italy and the trulli

If you are planning a visit to the** trulli of Alberobello**, here is a small guide for you. It will help you on how to visit the city and what to see in Alberobello in one day, with the possibility of visiting the Trulli both internally and externally. Although the whole city is scattered with trulli, there are few specific places, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO: Rione Monti, with about a thousand cones, is the largest and most famous trulli district, located on the southern side of the city. Rione Aia Piccola, in a short distance from the first, is smaller but exclusively residential (forbidden to open commercial activities), with about 400 cones. Casa Pezzolla, a complex of 15 communicating cones used as a Museum of the Territory. Casa D'Amore, the first city hall, is linked to the official recognition of the city. The house-museum of the Trullo Sovrano. The only two-story trulli in the city. Stage 1 - Visit the trulli of Alberobello To begin your exploration of the city of trulli, we recommend starting from the northern part. Here you will find a real hidden neighborhood of trulli, in the midst of which stands the first of the buildings declared a World Heritage Site, the so-called Trullo Sovrano. It is the only two-story trullo in the city, today used as a House-Museum . Continuing south, a short distance away, you will find the Basilica of Santi Medici Cosma e Damiano and, crossing Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, you will reach Largo Martellotta. The district is so-called because each street here takes the name of one of the mountains where Italy fought during the First World War. Stage 2 - Shopping among the souvenir shops Most of the commercial activities for tourists in the city are concentrated in this district, where you can stroll and shop among the various souvenir shops and local craft shops. How to reach there: I took a local Bus from Bari largo sorrentino to Alberobello.

Trullo Sovrano

Alberobello is a town in Italy’s Apulia region. It’s known for its trulli, whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs. The hilltop Rione Monti district has hundreds of them. The 18th-century Trullo Sovrano is a 2-level trulli. Furniture and tools at the Museo del Territorio Casa Pezzolla re-create life in the trulli as it was centuries ago. Southwest of town is the Casa Rossa, a WWII internment camp
