This famous landmark is a symbol of Alexandria. The pillar is 20.75m tall and carved from a single piece of red granite. The stone was quarried in Aswan and transported to Alexandria by barge via the Nile. 🎭｜The semicircular stone steps are baked by the sun into a gramophone, and the Roman Amphitheatre still plays the harbor twilight on repeat…… This was an important building in Roman times, mainly used for various entertainment activities and performances, such as gladiator contests, theatrical performances, and public executions. These amphitheaters were usually semicircular, with tiered seating surrounding a central performance area.
