Amami Oshima, a tranquil island where you can forget time

We went to Amami Oshima in October. My partner is a wheelchair user with hemiplegia, so the biggest problem we had was whether there was a multi-purpose toilet when we went on a trip. We couldn't get from the parking lot to Heart Rock in a wheelchair. A normal wheelchair can't go on the beach, and there are branches and a slight difference in elevation even on the beach, so unfortunately we gave up. This often happens when you're in a wheelchair. The sea, sky, and plants were like a different world that I'd never seen before. The plants in Tanaka Isson's paintings and the sky's clear color, so clear that you can't tell the difference between the color of the real sea and the color of the postcard. The sound of the wind, the birds, the insects... The natural nature of Amami makes you forget time. The Seto Inland Sea where we stayed had calm waves, and we spent a truly peaceful time with nothing happening, with only the moonlight illuminating the shore. At Mangrove Park, my partner and I were able to experience canoeing together. The staff helped us transfer. It's a mysterious island that makes you lose track of the day and time, so much so that I can't even remember the last time I was so wrapped up in nature and not thinking about anything.
