Situated along the Singel Canal, this one-of-a-kind market has been a staple of the city since 1862, offering a dazzling display of fresh flowers, bulbs, and souvenirs that celebrate the Netherlands’ deep-rooted love for horticulture. As I wandered through the rows of floating stalls, the scent of fresh tulips, roses, and daffodils filled the air, creating a fragrant and inviting atmosphere. Each shop overflowed with colorful bouquets, and the sight of tulips in every imaginable shade—deep purples, fiery oranges, and soft pinks—was a true feast for the eyes. The market wasn’t just about fresh blooms; it was also a paradise for gardening enthusiasts. Countless stalls sold tulip bulbs, neatly packaged and labeled for travelers to take home as a floral souvenir. Some vendors even had miniature wooden clogs painted with traditional Dutch patterns, adding a charming local touch to the market’s offerings.
