Henan's "Immortal Mountain on the Sea": Anyang Nanhai Temple and the Ancient Stone Bridge The Nanhai Temple in Shanying Town, Long'an District, Anyang City, Henan Province, is located on the south bank of the Anyang River, facing the "Xiao Nanhai Grottoes," a national key cultural relic protection unit, across the river. In ancient times, the canyon here had vast waters, resembling a sea, and it was located south of the ancient city of Ye, hence the name Xiao Nanhai (Little South Sea). It is said that the Nanhai Temple was first built in the Tang Dynasty. Because the main deity enshrined in the temple is Guanyin Bodhisattva, it is also known as "Guanyin Temple." It is also the location of "Shanying Pine Waves," one of the eight scenic spots of Anyang. The ancient stone bridge leading to Nanhai Temple is clearly a flood bridge, similar to a small dam. When I finished visiting the temple and walked back, I discovered that both sides of the bridge (the pier sections) protrude. Although the features are blurred, they can still be identified as beast heads. Therefore, this bridge is likely a "dragon (beast) head bridge"!
