Arezzo Cathedral 🇮🇹

#2024wish Just had a fun day in Arezzo, and the church was the lovely cherry on top! The €5 cost seemed nice for the amount of art and history inside like a welcome. Arezzo Cathedral, or San Donato church, is a pretty Romanesque building that surprises you with its simple grace. The outside is a mix of white and green stone, then once you go in it's just simple. The colored glass windows and pictures by Piero della Francesca are real special treasures. 🎨✨ For me, the best part was visiting the Madonna del Conforto Chapel. The quiet room and the lovely decorations of the paintings make it a calm place inside the church. It's like going into a calm art show. 🌹🙏 Don't forget to go up the Cathedral's bell tower for a great view of Arezzo. The red rooftops and nearby hills make a pretty picture. It's a climb that is really worth it! 🏞️🔔 Once you finish exploring the cathedral, walk slowly to Piazza Grande. This old square is surrounded by nice cafes and historic buildings, making it a great place to feel the local vibes. ☕️🏰 A short walk away is the Basilica of San Francesco, another art piece with paintings by Piero della Francesca. The art in this basilica tells stories that are both interesting and make you think. 🖼️🕊️ End your day by going to a nearby small restaurant. Arezzo is famous for its tasty Tuscan food.
