A Grand View, A Small Price: Penang’s Iconic Temple

#cheaptravel One of my favorite stops during my cheap travel in Penang was Kek Lok Si Temple. It’s one of Southeast Asia’s biggest Buddhist temples—and the best part is, you don’t need to spend much to enjoy it! The entrance is free for most areas, and even the ride up to the huge bronze statue of Kuan Yin is just a few ringgit. The views from the top are breathtaking, with colorful rooftops, lanterns, and the whole city stretching out beneath you. I took my time exploring the peaceful walkways, snapping photos of the turtle pond, and admiring the details in the architecture. It’s amazing how much beauty and culture you can soak in on a tiny budget. Bring water, comfy shoes, and a sense of curiosity—this place is a gem for any traveler looking to stretch their ringgit and still experience something truly memorable.
