Wat Saket (Golden Mount)

Wat Saket, also known as the 'Golden Mount' or 'Golden Chedi', is a Buddhist temple built towards the end of the Ayutthaya period. Its most distinctive feature is the golden chedi (stupa) situated atop an artificial hill, which gleams brightly and attracts countless visitors who come to climb and admire the panoramic views of Bangkok. To reach the summit, one must climb over 300 steps. Along the way, there are bells, drums, and small Buddha statues. Many devotees ring the bells for blessings, creating an atmosphere that is both solemn and filled with local charm. Once at the top, visitors are rewarded with a 360-degree view of old Bangkok, especially enchanting at dusk or when the city lights begin to twinkle at night.
