Wat Nak Prok is a temple of the people, belonging to the Mahanikaya sect. It is located at 99 Thet Thai Road, Soi 49, Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen Subdistrict, Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok. The Fine Arts Department announced the registration of “Wat Nak Prok” as an ancient site since December 13, 1977. Wat Nak Prok is almost 300 years old. Originally, the villagers called it “Wat Pok” because it is located in the middle of a forest garden. It is assumed that the temple was built by the villagers in the community since the late Ayutthaya period during the reign of King Borommakot around the year 2291 or only 19 years before the fall of Ayutthaya for the second time. Due to the war, the people were in trouble and had to flee for refuge. As a result, Wat Pok was abandoned for a long time. It is in a dilapidated condition. Only the ordination hall and the temple with only the roof and walls are visible. It is considered the largest Buddha statue in Bangkok.
