A Taoist holy place with stories but no ancient buildings (Beijing)

I was a little surprised by the doorway photos circulating on the Internet (Figure 1, 2), so I came to take a look on May Day. First of all, don’t get the name wrong. The two towering peaks on the top of the mountain look like the bun (ji) of an ancient girl, hence the name. Don't mistake it for a maid mountain; secondly, if you are only interested in ancient buildings, don't come here. All the ancient buildings were destroyed in 1949. There was a three-minute silence. However, its status in the world is still there. It is undoubtedly a Taoist holy land. The legend of a thousand years of incense is true. The four emperors once visited and there are many ancient buildings. The inscriptions and stone carvings everywhere also confirm the past. Finally, let me talk about my personal opinion from the perspective of climbing the mountain and enjoying the scenery. During holidays, the public parking lots 1 and 2 at the foot of the mountain, which charge 10 yuan, are basically full. Parking lot 3, which is a little farther away, is large enough and charges 20 yuan, but it is obviously a privately built parking lot with no registration. . . The ticket is 50 yuan, and the shuttle bus is 50 yuan. If you take the bus, you will go directly to the two Yajis on Yaji Mountain. Except for taking pictures of each other facing the two doorways, the rest of the climb is basically a lonely one. After passing the ticket gate, there is a prayer road with 365 steps. It looks steep, but there is a platform halfway through the climb, which is very friendly to those who are afraid of heights. After climbing the steps, the road from Dongyue Temple to the top of the mountain is relatively flat. The stairs have a small slope and many platforms. Basically, they are designed according to the idea that there are no platforms when looking up and no steps when looking down from the top, which is very interesting. On the way, you can also enjoy the geological wonder of 1.5 billion years ago - the Stone Scripture (Figure 14). After reaching the top of the mountain, the temples on both sides are magnificent, built on two rock peaks that protrude like stone carvings. Although the buildings are new, the rock base should have been left behind in the past. Once again, I sigh at the architectural ability of the ancients. Three hours is enough to wander around the entire scenic area without being too tiring and it can also provide a good exercise effect. The scenery at the top of the mountain is nice. It is located at the southern foot of Yanshan Mountain and overlooks the North China Plain. It is suitable for a leisure walk with children. However, the surrounding supporting facilities are average, and there are no other outstanding projects nearby, so it is difficult to support a full day of play time.
