A 3-night, 4-day trip to Beijing ✈️🏯🍜 On September 19, 2024, I took flight JL25 from Haneda Airport to Beijing. I arrived at 19:45 that day and checked into the hotel. Beijing was calm at night, and I decided to go to bed early, full of anticipation for the next day. 🌙 ☀️Day 1 The next day, on the 20th, I headed to the historic Yuanmingyuan early in the morning. The place, once called "Wanyuan Garden," is the remains of a magnificent garden from the Qing Dynasty, and I could imagine the splendor of that time while walking. 🌳✨ I had lunch at a restaurant called "Xiaozui Litang." The soup, which is also the name of the restaurant, had a very elegant taste, and the natural sweetness of the pear was particularly impressive🍐. In the afternoon, I visited Peking University, a prestigious university in China, but you need to be accompanied by an official to enter the inside. We couldn't enter the campus, so we just looked at the exterior. Still, just looking at the historic school building was fascinating enough. We then bought some souvenirs at the official shop opposite the main gate 🎁. Stationery with the Peking University logo was a great souvenir! 📚✨After that, we walked around the city and enjoyed the everyday atmosphere of Beijing. 🚶♂️ ☀️Day 2 We started our activities early in the morning on the 21st as well. First, we headed to the "Qianmen" area. Qianmen Street is lined with many long-established and small shops, and we tried many traditional Beijing snacks. In particular, the grilled rice cakes and sugar-coated fruit skewers had a unique Beijing taste 🍡. It was in this area that we tried "doujiru" for the first time, and you need to be prepared for this! 😅 I couldn't finish it, but my wife drank it while saying, "It's totally fine." It seems that the taste is divided...😂. For lunch, I had "Lao Beijing Hua Rou". Thinly sliced ​​lamb is shabu-shabued in a hot pot, and it was the perfect dish for the cold season🍲. In the afternoon, I headed to Tiananmen Square, but I'm glad I made a plan because you need to make a reservation in advance. Standing in front of the majestic appearance of Tiananmen, I felt the weight of history. 🏰 After that, I visited Beihai Park and Jingshan Park and took a leisurely stroll through the parks. From Jingshan Park, you can see the whole of Beijing's cityscape, and the view at dusk was especially beautiful🌅. At night, I walked around the city again and ended the day enjoying the city's lively atmosphere. 🎑 ☀️On the final day, the 22nd, I returned to Haneda on JL20. 🛬 It was a short trip, but I was able to spend a fulfilling time experiencing Beijing's history and culture. Qing Dynasty gardens, modern universities, the hustle and bustle of Qianmen, the grandeur of Tiananmen - wherever I went, I could feel Beijing's deep history and the traditions that continue to live on within it. This trip became an unforgettable memory for me.
