Located in a quiet canyon in the northwestern mountainous area of Yanqing, a suburb of Beijing, it is the largest cliff dwelling site discovered in China. The stone chamber buildings have complex and ingenious designs. Built into the mountains, these dwellings utilize natural caves and cliffs, demonstrating the wisdom of ancient people living in harmony with nature. The interior walls of the stone chambers have obvious chisel marks, and the rooms are equipped with doors, windows, heated beds, stoves, mangers, closets, and chimneys, indicating that the inhabitants had developed sophisticated survival skills. However, the age and function of Guyaju Caves remain a mystery, with no written or pictorial records. 🌻 [Tour Route] The overall hiking route is very accessible, forming a small loop that avoids backtracking. At the fork, the left path is relatively gentle, while the right path has steeper steps. We chose to ascend via the right path and descend via the left, which felt safer. 🌻 [Surrounding Scenic Spots] From the scenic spot's observation deck, you can enjoy distant views of Guanting Reservoir, Haituo Mountain Valley International Tourism Resort, Huihuang International Resort, Yudushan National Forest Park, Songshan National Nature Reserve, Banquan Sports Park, World Grape Expo Park, Guihe Forest Park, and Wild Duck Lake Wetland Park. 🌻 Guyaju Caves has also served as a filming location for many famous movies and TV series, such as "Iron Pear Blossom," "The Secret History of Nurhaci," and "The Bride with White Hair."
