But in reality, a bus ride can get you there easily in just 1.5 hours! Although Yaji Mountain isn't very high, with an elevation gain of only a little over 300 meters, it offers breathtakingly beautiful scenery. The summit's architecture resembles a celestial palace, standing majestically between heaven and earth, a testament to its thousand-year-old Taoist heritage. Perched atop cliffs, the Jade Emperor Pavilion and Bixia Yuanjun Temple boast magnificent, rarely seen flying eaves and brackets. The two protruding peaks, resembling the double bun hairstyle of ancient women, add a touch of gentleness and elegance. Yaji Mountain's history dates back to the Tang Dynasty. It was once a place where the royal family prayed for blessings, and Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong climbed the mountain 17 times, each time writing the character "福" (blessing) with their own hands. Recommended Hiking Route - Taiji Square > Lingguan Temple > Huixiang Pavilion > Jade Emperor Pavilion (summit) > Descend via the west side pine forest dirt road > Parking lot at the foot of the mountain - Ascent: Start your journey from the scenic area entrance, following the winding mountain path. You'll reach the summit in about an hour. Standing at the peak, your vision expands, and any physical and mental fatigue vanishes. - Descent: If you don't want to strain your knees on the steps, choose the firebreak trail on the right! This path is relatively flat, winding through the forest. Although a bit slower, the scenery along the way is well worth savoring. It's a two-stop ride, taking about an hour to reach Pinggu.
