A hotel even students can afford? This isn't your average stay.

Renaissance Beijing Zhongguancun Dongsheng Technology Park Hotel Review: A Unique Student Experience As a hotel enthusiast, I recently visited the Renaissance Beijing Zhongguancun Dongsheng Technology Park Hotel. After my stay, I'm here to share my honest impressions. Overall Rating I'd give it a 3.2 overall. There were both high and low points to my experience. Location 📍I can only give the location a 2.0. The hotel is about 25 km from the city center, making it a bit far from most attractions. However, it's right next to the Dongsheng Technology Park, primarily catering to the commuting needs of business travelers in the area. So, for business trips, the location is advantageous. Room Layout 🏘️ I stayed in a Deluxe King Room, which was approximately 45m². This is about average for hotels in this category. The room layout follows a classic corridor design, separating the bathroom and bedroom. A unique feature is the sliding door between the bathroom and bedroom. When opened, it creates a spacious, open-plan feel. The hotel has a "horse" theme, with many horse-related elements throughout the room. The overall style is modern, with bold color contrasts, somewhat reminiscent of a W Hotel. The low-saturation yellow and blue hues in the bathroom were particularly striking. Amenities 🛌 As a hotel that had only been open for a month at the time of my visit, the facilities were all brand new. The room had many unique design features, and the window offered a view of the "nail" of the Olympic Forest Park and a glimpse of the China Zun tower. However, there were a few minor issues, such as the unresponsiveness of the central control panel and a musty smell in the bathroom. The "horse" theme continued in the public areas, with decorations like "saddle stools" and "horse leg tables." The lobby and lobby bar had a sophisticated, club-like atmosphere, but the colors of the ceiling screen and lighting felt a bit odd, creating a slightly disjointed feel in the space. The overhead projector in the elevator lobby that left horseshoe prints as you walked by was a fun touch. The hotel has a gym and a swimming pool. The gym was standard, and while the pool wasn't open during my visit, it looked promising. Soundproofing and Cleanliness 🧹 The soundproofing was decent; I wasn't bothered by much outside noise while in my room. Cleanliness was generally good, but housekeeping didn't change the used linens during turndown service, which needs improvement. Dining 🍽 I tried the cocktails at the Yi Ting and the hotel breakfast. The cocktails were average, and I was a little disappointed not to have tried any of their signature drinks. The hotel breakfast had received rave reviews online, but my experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The selection wasn't extensive, mostly standard fare. The taste was average, slightly better than other hotels in the same category, but not significantly so. Service 💁‍♂️ The concierge service was excellent. They proactively helped with my luggage, guided me, and offered a welcome drink upon check-in. The front desk service was also great; they had my room ready in advance and even offered an upgrade. However, the housekeeping and breakfast restaurant service fell short. Housekeeping forgot to change the used linens, and despite three staff members at the breakfast restaurant's front desk, no one offered to seat me. I spent a while looking for a table. The two staff members in the central area were engrossed in conversation, offering no assistance or inquiring about drink preferences. Cost Per Person 💰 The price fluctuates depending on the room type and the time of year. My Deluxe King Room cost around 600 yuan per night. Other Tips 💗 As a newly opened Marriott hotel in Beijing, it's novel and interesting. It's worth checking out while it's still fresh. However, be prepared to be a little forgiving when it comes to service and some of the details. I hope the hotel will address these shortcomings and improve its overall quality in the future.
