Located at the foot of the Great Wall, small bridges, flowing water, and ancient buildings complement each other, showing the gentleness of a water town and the magnificence of a mountain city. The town is surrounded by rivers, and there are many waterways within the town where boats can pass. Bai Juyi's poem, "In spring, the river water is as green as blue," must be describing this place. It's so beautiful!!! It is recommended to spend a day and a half here, including one night's stay. Tickets: Check-in at Gubei Water Town hotels generally includes tickets, so you don't need to purchase them separately. Transportation High-speed Rail: Get off at Gubeikou Station. Trains depart from Beijing North, Qinghe, and Changping North stations. The first train departs at 6:57, the last train departs at 15:03, and the last return train departs at 17:20. Car: Navigate to the Gubei Water Town parking lot. Parking is 25/day. Charging stations are available in parking lots 5 and 6. Bus: Direct buses depart from Dongzhimenwai Bus Station and take 2 hours. Recommended Attractions: 1. Simatai Great Wall: The most worthwhile attraction. You can choose day or night tours, hiking or cable car. Various options are available. I personally recommend taking the cable car round trip to save energy and time. Cable car tickets need to be purchased separately. 2. Drone Kongming Lantern Show: Over 100 drones perform at night for about 20 minutes. It's worth seeing. 3. Hot Springs with Great Wall Night View: Most hotels include hot spring tickets. I recommend the Yu Da Chi Zi hot spring, which has relatively new facilities and outdoor pools where you can see the Great Wall at night. 4. Great Wall Music Water Dance Show: A musical fountain show. Worth seeing if it's your first time here. 5. Hilltop Church: You can see the entire Gubei Water Town from here. Watching the sunset here with your loved one is very romantic. 6. Yongshun Dyehouse: A unique place to take photos. Accommodation Recommendations: Staying inside or outside the scenic area is convenient, with shuttle buses available. There are guesthouses, inns, and five-star hotels. Food Recommendations: The snacks are quite good. I recommend the preserved vegetable sesame cakes, roasted sweet potatoes, shredded radish cakes, and roasted pears.
