Brissago Island

Brissago Island refers to the Brissago Islands, a pair of islands located in Lake Maggiore, Switzerland. The larger island, Isola Grande, is famous for its Botanical Garden, which features exotic plants from around the world due to the island's mild climate. The smaller island, Isolino di Sant’Apollinare, remains largely untouched and covered in natural vegetation. The Botanical Garden of the Canton Ticino on Isola Grande was established in the late 19th century by Antoinette Saint-Léger and later expanded under the ownership of Max Emden, a German businessman. Today, the island is a protected nature reserve and a popular tourist attraction, accessible by boat from places like Ascona and Locarno.
