Harvard University｜A Glimpse into Daily Life at a World-Class Institution

When visiting Boston, how could you miss the chance to explore the "world's top university"? On this day, I took the Red Line subway to Harvard University. As soon as I stepped off the train, I found myself in the bustling Harvard Square, surrounded by coffee shops, bookstores, and food stalls, all brimming with a vibrant student atmosphere. Walking into the campus felt like stepping into a movie scene. The red-brick buildings paired with lush greenery and open lawns exuded a sense of history. Founded in 1636, Harvard University is one of the oldest universities in the United States. Even the trees and stones on campus seem to have stories to tell. I started my visit by taking a photo in front of the famous John Harvard Statue, one of Harvard's iconic landmarks. Interestingly, the bronze shoe that everyone touches is tied to three historical inaccuracies (the statue doesn't depict John Harvard himself, Harvard wasn't the founder, and the university wasn't established in 1638)—a fun little tidbit. Next, I joined a campus tour that took me to Harvard Library, Memorial Hall, the Science Center, and other classic buildings. The tour guide, a Harvard student, was engaging and humorous, sharing not only the sights but also fascinating anecdotes about student life and campus legends. If you're visiting Boston, dedicating half a day to exploring this legendary institution is absolutely worth it.
