It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and the 14th largest mosque in the world 🕌‼ ️ Located on the Atlantic coast of Casablanca, one-third of its area is built on the sea and cost nearly $600 million to build. The mosque architecture combines Islamic architecture and Moroccan elements and was built by Moroccan craftsmen from all over the Kingdom. The minaret is 60 stories high and has a laser installed on top, shining its light directly towards Mecca. The mosque stands on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; worshippers can pray out over the sea, but there is no glass floor to see the ocean. The walls are handcrafted marble and the roof is retractable. It can accommodate up to 105,000 believers to gather together for prayer🛐 Except for some Italian white granite columns and 56 glass chandeliers, all granite, plaster, marble, wood and other materials used in the building were sourced from all over Morocco🇲🇦 The Hassan II Mosque is a very grand and beautiful building, an absolute treasure on the water!
