Take the train to Wat Luang Pho Sothon

We heard from the media that recently the gold leaf covering Luang Por Sothon has been peeled off to reveal the original statue before it is re-gilded again. While I had some free time, I took the 8:00 train from Bangkok Railway Station to Chachoengsao Junction Station. The fare was 13 baht and I arrived in Chachoengsao at 9:40 (10 minutes behind schedule). When you walk out of the train station, on the left, there will be a songthaew that goes to Wat Sothon. The fare is 10 baht. The songthaew will stop right in front of the Luang Por Sothon shrine. When you walk in, you will find Luang Por Sothon in the middle of the shrine. After paying respect to Luang Por Sothon, walk out to the back and you will find a Chinese-style shrine where you can walk up to the upper floor. After leaving the Chinese shrine, walk to the shrine where people go to apply gold leaf to Luang Por Sothon. Many people here bring eggs to fulfill vows. You spend almost an hour at Wat Sothon. If you want to go back right away, there are songthaews that go to the train station and the van station.
