It is an important religious site of Surat Thani Province and one of the three sacred historical sites in the South. Phra Borommathat Chaiya, which contains the relics of the Lord Buddha, is considered an important religious site of Surat Thani Province. The Phra Borommathat Chedi is a castle-shaped chedi with a cross-shaped base and four porches. It is approximately 24 meters high from the base to the top. It is situated on a square lotus pedestal decorated with wall pillars, which is an ancient site in the Mahayana style since the glory of the Srivijaya Kingdom. There are small chedis around the chedi and it is the only Buddhist site in Thailand that still retains the identity of the Srivijaya period completely. Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya Ratchaworawihan is an ancient temple. Evidence suggests that it was during the time of the Suvarnabhumi Kingdom connecting with the Srivijaya Kingdom by adopting the civilizations of various kingdoms.
