Phanom Rung Stone Castle Park is 😊😊😊 #Phanom Rung Stone Castle Phanom Rung Stone Castle is a Brahmin temple of the Shaivite sect. It has been continuously renovated and built for many eras, from around the 15th to the 17th Buddhist century. In the 18th Buddhist century, King Jayavarman VII of the Khmer Empire converted to Mahayana Buddhism. This temple was therefore converted into a Mahayana temple. In the beginning, Phanom Rung Stone Castle was built from pink sandstone and is located on the top of Phanom Rung Mountain, 1,320 feet above sea level. The name Phanom Rung means big mountain. It is assumed that it was built in the 15th-18th Buddhist centuries. From the inscriptions that scholars have read and translated, it can be concluded that King Rajendravarman II, King of Angkor (1487-1511 B.E.), established a temple dedicated to Shiva at Phanom Rung Mountain, which was probably not very big in the early days. Later, King Jayavarman V (1511-1544) dedicated land and slaves to the Phanom Rung temple. In the 17th Buddhist century, Narendraditya, a lord of the Mahidharapura dynasty who ruled this region (who was the ancestor of King Suryavarman II, the builder of Angkor Wat), built this temple and practiced asceticism at Phanom Rung temple.
