Wat Phu Stone Castle

Location: 10 kilometers south of Champasak It is one of the ancient sites in southern Laos that is a popular tourist attraction for both Lao and foreign tourists. It is Wat Phu Stone Castle, an ancient Khmer castle that is older than 3 eras: the Chenla Kingdom, the Khmer Kingdom before Angkor, and the Lan Xang Kingdom. The last era is the current Laos. This stone castle is considered a sacred religious site that shows ancient civilization in the past. There is a stone inscription that records that during the 6th - 8th centuries, the location of this castle was a place for sacrificial ceremonies. You can visit every day from 08.00 - 18.00 hrs.
