Former Residence of Emperor Wu of Chen in Huzhou, Zhejiang

When visiting Changxing in Huzhou, a must-see is the Former Residence of Emperor Wu of Chen. The Chen Dynasty was the last dynasty of the Southern Dynasties, founded by Emperor Wu of Chen (Chen Baxian). With its capital in Jiankang (Nanjing), it lasted 32 years and saw five emperors. The Chen Dynasty is the only dynasty in Chinese history where the emperor's surname and the dynastic name are the same. It is also the only dynasty in Zhejiang history founded by a local emperor. The Former Residence of Emperor Wu of Chen is one of Changxing's tourist attractions. Covering an area of about 126 acres, with a building area of 10,361 square meters, the total investment is about 180 million yuan. It consists of three parts: the Chen Wu Emperor's Former Residence Ruins Park, Tianju Temple, and the Exhibition Hall. Tianju Temple in the Former Residence, along with Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou and Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang, are known as the "Three Great Temples of Jiangnan." At the Former Residence of Emperor Wu of Chen, you can also see an ancient well from the Jin Dynasty, and there is a stele gallery within the scenic area. The overall architecture of the scenic spot features pavilions with flying eaves, creating an antique atmosphere.
