Blue Town

Chefchaouen is located in the northwest of Morocco, North Africa, at the foot of the Kaa'la Mountain in the western Rif Mountains. It is famous for its ancient traditional blue buildings. The city is built on a hillside, surrounded by rolling valleys. The blue town is like a sapphire inlaid here, exceptionally dazzling. The local people speak Arabic and Spanish (due to historical reasons, it was a Spanish colony for a long time). There is no conclusion about the origin of the blue buildings in Chefchaouen. The Mediterranean climate is humid and sultry, with many mosquitoes. The locals believe that blue gives the impression of water, which helps to repel mosquitoes and dissipate heat. Another theory is that it is to attract people's attention and develop tourism. Whatever the original reason, blue has now become a symbol and sign of Chefchaouen, attracting countless tourists to check in. The walls, stairs, and doors and windows here are all painted blue, and various blues gather together, just like a blue grand view garden. The walls are decorated with colorful flower pots and green plants, which complement the blue walls and are very romantic. In 2010, Chefchaouen was officially included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Protection List. In 2019, it was selected as one of the world's top ten most beautiful cities by the international website "Espresso".
