Chengdu - Qingyang Temple - Flowering Plum

The flowering plums at Chengdu's Qingyang Temple are now at their peak! The flowering plums at Qingyang Temple, anticipated all year, are finally in bloom! Resembling both plum and peach blossoms, yet neither, this flower is a hybrid of the double-flowered pink plum and the purple-leaf plum, a mixed-blood variety. Qingyang Temple, originally named Qingyang Si, was first built during the Zhou Dynasty, approximately 3,000 years ago. Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty took refuge in Sichuan and used this temple as his temporary palace, hence the name change to Qingyang Temple. The existing buildings were gradually rebuilt and restored during the Qing Dynasty, under the reign of Emperor Kangxi. Currently, 80% of the flowering plums are in bloom, and the flowering period is expected to last for another week, so visit soon! The flowers are low-hanging, making them perfect for portraits without the need for elevation. Next to the flowering plums stands a 240-year-old camphor tree, which served as the prototype for the fruit tree in the 1983 version of *Journey to the West*, in the scene where the fruit of immortality is stolen. During filming, the art department significantly modified the base of the tree, adding a pedestal, which makes it look slightly different from the "fruit of immortality tree" in the show. Location: Qingyang Temple, Chengdu. The plum blossoms are located to the right of the Sanqing Hall. Subway: Take Subway Line 5 to Qingyang Temple Station, Exit C. Direct subway access! Food and Drink: Vegetarian meals are served at 11:30 am for CNY 15 per person. If you get tired from taking photos, there's a teahouse in the Tangwang Hall where you can relax and enjoy some tea. Nearby Attractions: Culture Park, Sui and Tang Dynasties Kiln Site Museum, Baihuatan Park, Sichuan Museum, and Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum are all nearby. You can choose to visit any of these attractions that interest you.
