The lobby and reception lounge area of Puyu Hotel was originally the Chen Xiwen Mansion built during the Qing Dynasty - a two-courtyard siheyuan facing south. Comprising a front hall, first courtyard with side rooms, central hall, second courtyard with side rooms, and main hall, its wooden structure features single-ridge suspended gables, swastika-patterned partitions, and eaves columns with beams that evoke nostalgic historical charm. Puyu, based on the original layouts of Chen Xiwen Mansion, Shen Family Ancestral Hall, Gai Ancestral Hall, and Kuige Lane residences, boasts abundant public spaces. Winding alleys lead to spacious courtyards where sunlight easily filters through the low historic buildings. Here, varying shades of gray bricks, uneven low walls, light-filtering tile windows, and lush plants create an interactive space of shifting shadows. The cement-textured walls paired with rattan wood elements showcase intentionally preserved hand-brushed textures for natural beauty. Perforated ceramic brick walls filter dappled sunlight while hanging paper lanterns cast shadow plays at night. Every room features "borrowed scenery windows" framing seasonal landscapes. Linen curtains create cloud-like envelopment, and custom herbal pillow systems aid sleep. Radiant floor heating and soundproof walls provide infant-level comfort.
