Originally, this was the residence of King Mahotratibet, the ruler of Chiang Mai. The building is entirely made of teakwood and showcases Chiang Saen-style architecture. The entrance arch is decorated with carved wooden peacocks, a symbol of northern nobility, giving it a majestic and elegant appearance. • Historical Background: This temple was originally called Wat Pan Tao (meaning "a thousandfold"), signifying that making merit once would yield blessings a thousandfold. Later, the name evolved into Wat Phan Tao.
