Ping River Bridge, a partner of Chiang Mai for over 100 years

Currently, it is used to connect Charoen Prathet Road and Tha Phae Road. Nawarat Bridge was built 3 times before it became the bridge we see today. According to history, the first bridge was built entirely of teak wood around 1890 and was named "Nawarat" to honor Chao Kaew Nawarat, the last ruler of Chiang Mai. This wooden bridge was built to cross the Ping River as the second bridge after the wooden bridge between Ton Lamyai Market and Wat Ketkaram. But because it was a wooden bridge, it rotted over time. Until the second time in 1921, the original wooden bridge was demolished and a steel bridge was built instead, which began use in 1923. Until in 1967, the steel bridge was demolished and a reinforced concrete bridge was built instead, for the third time, with an official opening ceremony on December 26, 1967. #wattosann
