Beijing during the National Day holiday

#chinatrip Beijing During the National Day Holiday: A Vibrant Celebration of Culture and Patriotism Beijing, China’s capital, is an exhilarating destination during the National Day holiday, celebrated annually on October 1st. This week-long public holiday, also known as “Golden Week,” commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. While Beijing is always a dynamic city, the National Day period elevates its energy, patriotism, and festive atmosphere, attracting locals and tourists alike. Festive Atmosphere and Decorations Throughout the city, Beijing is adorned with patriotic decorations during this time. Tiananmen Square, a focal point of the celebrations, becomes a sea of red with the Chinese flag prominently displayed and massive floral arrangements capturing the attention of all visitors. Streets and public spaces feature intricate light displays, national flags, and banners celebrating China’s achievements. This visual spectacle sets the tone for the festive spirit that permeates the city. Iconic Attractions and Crowds Beijing’s renowned landmarks, such as the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and the Summer Palace, become especially popular during National Day. These sites are often more crowded than usual, as both domestic and international tourists flock to explore the city’s rich history and cultural heritage. While the crowds can be overwhelming, they also add to the celebratory energy. For those seeking quieter experiences, visiting lesser-known sites like the Beijing Botanical Garden or exploring hutongs (traditional alleyways) offers a peaceful escape. Fireworks and Evening Celebrations One of the highlights of National Day in Beijing is the stunning fireworks display, typically held near iconic locations such as Tiananmen Square. The night sky lights up with dazzling colors, symbolizing the pride and progress of the nation. Many locals and visitors gather in parks or along open areas to enjoy these breathtaking performances. Visiting Beijing during the National Day holiday requires planning. Accommodation and transportation should be booked well in advance, as demand surges during this time. Arriving early at popular attractions is essential to avoid long lines, and wearing comfortable shoes is a must for the amount of walking involved. In summary, Beijing during the National Day holiday offers a unique blend of cultural immersion, historical exploration, and patriotic celebration. Despite the crowds, the city’s vibrant atmosphere and festive charm make it a memorable experience.

Taiheyan Archway

#chinatrip 🥰China's most beautiful glaze paifang, I'm completely amazed by this charming peacock blue! China has countless paifang (Chinese-style archways), most of which are made of stone. There are only 13 glaze archways exist in China, with 12 located in Beijing and Chengde, and just one in Jiexiu, Shanxi Province. The Taihe Rock glaze archway in Jiexiu is the only archway entirely made of glaze, featuring a primary color of jade-like peacock accented with golden yellow and green glaze, making it even more vibrant. The patterns on the glaze are vivid and rich in content, featuring dragon motifs, auspicious beasts, flowers, birds, fish, insects, figures, landscapes, and couplets, all embodying the good wishes for luck, longevity, and peace in. Various artistic techniques such as imitation line carving, high relief, and transparent carving have been employed in the glaze pieces, along with a wealth of painting techniques, making each piece unique. The glaze archway is truly a masterpiece without doubt among many archways in China. #
