I recently visited the Zhuwai · Under the Camphor Tree Homestay in Daoming Town, Chongzhou City, and had such a wonderful experience that I just have to share it with everyone! • Ambiance: From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the homestay's beauty. Nestled against the Wugenshan Mountains, with the vast Western Sichuan Plain stretching out before it and the "Western Sichuan Mirror" nearby, the homestay is surrounded by lush bamboo forests and rice paddies, creating a feeling of stepping into a secluded paradise. The homestay embraces a medieval wabi-sabi aesthetic, seamlessly blending natural wood elements with the surrounding landscape. The striking black spiral staircase adds a touch of modern design, complementing the outdoor lawn and open-air cinema area perfectly. The overall atmosphere is serene and inviting. The rooms are equally impressive, with nine guest rooms on the second and third floors, each exuding a unique charm, whether it's a private hot spring room with a king-size bed or a room featuring a suspended bathtub. Equipped with modern amenities such as panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, separate shower and toilet areas, and XGIMI projectors, the rooms offer the ultimate in comfort and relaxation, truly a dream vacation retreat. • Cuisine: A homestay experience wouldn't be complete without delicious food! The "Cloud Restaurant" on the first floor is a must-try, specializing in signature hot pots and Yunnan cuisine. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, sourced from Yunnan and local farms. The aroma of the Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles filled the air as soon as it was served. The rice noodles were smooth and delicate, swimming in a rich and flavorful broth—pure culinary bliss. The Steam Pot Chicken was another highlight, with incredibly tender and flavorful chicken, bursting with freshness. In addition to Yunnan dishes, you can also savor local Chongzhou specialties like Daoming cured meat and pork ribs. The Daoming cured meat offers a delightful balance of salty and savory flavors with a hint of smokiness, becoming more flavorful with each bite. The pork ribs have a unique texture, perfectly complemented by a refreshing bok choy soup, making for a truly satisfying meal. The homestay also offers customized afternoon tea, barbecues, and hot pot experiences upon request, with a wide selection of fruit salads, pastries, and skewers. • Service: The exceptional service at the homestay further enhanced my stay. The rooms were cleaned promptly, and there was even a thoughtful turndown service in the evening. Special requests, such as extra beds or cribs, were easily accommodated, making it incredibly family-friendly. The homestay's spacious outdoor lawn is perfect for small parties and team-building activities. The staff takes care of everything, from venue setup to catering arrangements, ensuring a hassle-free experience. If you're interested in exploring the surrounding area, they are happy to recommend itineraries for attractions like the Bamboo Art Village, White Pagoda Lake, and Anren Ancient Town, and even assist with car rentals and ticket bookings. Their attentiveness and care truly made a difference.
