**Cologne Cathedral** (Kölner Dom), located on the banks of the Rhine in western Germany, is a world-renowned Gothic architectural treasure and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Germany. This magnificent church began construction in 1248 and took more than 600 years to complete. Its two 157-meter-high spires were once the tallest buildings in the world.
