Enjoying Inner Mongolian hospitality in a traditional yurt

We made our inaugural trip to Inner Mongolia in July, which is the best time to visit as the climate is milder then. We arrived in the city of Hohhot, and took a 2h+ drive to Shihua grassland, which is between the city and Baotou. We checked ourselves into one of the many local resorts, whereby we stayed overnight in a modern yurt, which came with airconditioning and a proper bathroom. The resort also provides a wide variety of activities, including house-riding, electric carts and even an amusement park with rides such as bumper cars. The highlight of the stay would be the dinner, whereby we were treated to a whole range of Mongolian cuisine, which largely consisted of lots of lamb and beef. The meats, which were reared locally, were tender and succulent. We ended the night by dancing around a bonfire, under the lights of fireworks. The grasslands of Inner Mongolia were wide and expansive, providing a wonderful natural scenery which is a feast for the eyes. #innermongolia #hohhot #baotou #grassland #yurt
