Phra That Si Song Rak, Loei Province

🛕 Phra That Si Song Rak is located on Highway No. 2013, 3 kilometers from Dan Sai District Office. It is a temple where no monks reside. It was built as a Utesika Chedi, meaning a chedi built with the intention of dedicating it to Buddhism without specifying what it must keep. 🧏♂️ It was also built to witness the mutual assistance between Ayutthaya and Sri Sattahip in 2103 and completed in 2106. Phra That Si Song Rak is a square lotus-shaped chedi, similar to Phra That Phanom, Phra That Luang in Vientiane, and Phra That Si Khotrabong. It is 19.19 meters high, has a square base with twelve recessed corners, and is 10.89 meters wide on each side. ✨️ Inside the temple, there is also a Tibetan-style Buddha statue in the Naga Parak posture. The Naga Parak head is made of stone and the Buddha statue is made of bronze. It has a lap width of 21 inches and a height of 30 inches. Every year, there is a Phra That Sri Song Rak festival (Wan Phen Visakha Bucha Festival) on the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 6th lunar month. Beeswax trees are brought to offer to the Phra That.
