#springitinerary If you're in Fukuoka during spring, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a must-see. Built way back in 905 AD over the grave of Sugawara no Michizane, a famous scholar and poet, the shrine honors Tenjin, the god of learning. The main shrine, rebuilt in 1591, is a gorgeous example of classic Japanese architecture. Spring turns the whole place into a floral wonderland. From late March to mid-April, cherry blossoms line the path, making the walk super pretty. Plus, the grounds have over 6,000 plum trees, including the legendary Tobiume, or "flying plum," which, according to legend, flew from Kyoto to reunite with Michizane. As you stroll, check out the heart-shaped Shinji-ike pond and the iconic Taikobashi bridge. Don’t forget to try the local sweet, Umegae mochi, totally worth it. It’s the perfect chill spot to soak in nature, history, and spring vibes.
