My Journey to Gumahu Lake

🚗 To get to Gumahu Lake, I chose to drive from Lanzhou to Heila Village first. The specific driving route can be found on the app "Two Step Road." The hiking part is about 5 kilometers in total, with an accumulated elevation gain of 1,000 meters. We parked near an abandoned factory building in Heila Village and started hiking from there, which was mostly uphill all the way.🏃‍♂️ The initial section was a gravel path with a relatively gentle incline, but the scorching sun made it quite exhausting. After leaving the gravel section, the real climb began⛰. Persisting to the mountain pass, the breathtaking scenery of the Die Mountains suddenly unfolded before our eyes—so stunning that we had to stop and catch our breath. Then came the downhill part, which would be quite challenging if it rained.🌿 On the way down, we passed through meadows and forests before finally reaching an open pasture. In the distance, Gumahu Lake came into view. When we finally arrived at the lakeshore and saw the silhouette of the Die Mountains reflected in the water up close, the awe and beauty were simply indescribable.🌈 🌻 We chose to camp overnight by Gumahu Lake, and there happened to be a few small local cabins nearby for rent, which was a decent resting option. The only regret was the improper garbage disposal by the lake—all piled up in one spot. Hopefully, better management measures will be implemented in the future; otherwise, the lake could really become polluted.👣
