Dongping: Complete Guide to Food, Fun, and Activities for the May Day Holiday

⭐Getting to Know the Town Dongping Town is a very small seaside town with only one or two main streets. The surrounding attractions are also very close. Except for Windmill Mountain, most of them can be reached within 10 minutes by car. There are many tuk-tuks in the town that you can stop and ride at any time. ⭐Attraction Route Feilong Temple👉Tai O Fishing Village👉Pearl Bay👉Dongping Pier👉Windmill Hill 📌All attractions are free!❗️ 1️⃣Feilong Temple Built on a cliff by the sea, backed by mountains and facing the sea, the scenery is invincible! The photos taken in good weather are very impressive. The car can be driven directly to the mountain (parking spaces are limited, and when there are many people, you can only park at the foot of the mountain and walk up). 2️⃣ Tai O Fishing Village This small fishing village has already been rated as a AAAA scenic spot, but I personally think it has lost its original flavor. You can visit it to buy some local products. Parking is charged, but the first half hour is free. 3️⃣ Pearl Bay Located next to Dongping Town, this long beach is free to enter. 4️⃣ Dongping Pier There are many fishing boats parked near the pier, which is quite spectacular. Every day after 3 or 4 PM, fishing boats return to sell fresh seafood at the pier. You can buy it there and then have it processed at a restaurant. 5️⃣ Windmill Mountain It's about a 20-minute drive from the town, all the way uphill on a concrete road, but it's a bit steep and a single lane, so it can be a bit of a hassle to encounter other cars. Not recommended for inexperienced drivers❗️ There are two roads to the mountain Visit the popular Windmill 99 to see Feilong Temple and the sea. 📍Navigation: Songshan Peak, then keep driving until you see the signs. 📍Navigation: Kuang Gou Fei. The fork in these two routes is at the "Windmill Mountain Station". One goes left, one goes right, but either way, just keep driving up the same road. There are two places to buy seafood: the pier and Dongping Market. According to my own experience, the pier is more expensive than the market❗️ (Maybe they saw that we were from out of town and tried to rip us off❗️😂) When having seafood cooked, don't go to the restaurants next to the pier. I asked about the price, and it was 20-30 yuan per dish. I recommend a restaurant that is said to be the cheapest in Dongping (recommended by the coffee shop owner, haha). It costs 10 yuan for boiling, 15 yuan for stir-frying with ginger and scallions or steaming with garlic. It's a small family-run shop, so they can't make anything too complicated. Recommended food🍽️ 🥹Dongping No. 1 Fish Raft, a restaurant recommended by locals. We went to the restaurant and sat down, but then left. After looking at the seafood and the menu, we found it was quite expensive. It's up to you if you're rich~ 😋Zhuchenglou, a high-end restaurant where locals host guests. The food is delicious, but the prices are not low, and the consumption level is similar to that of cities in the Pearl River Delta. 😋Binzai Seafood City, recommended❗️ Cheap, tasty, and great value for money❗️ 😋Fu Ji Chicken Rice, ordered chicken rice and goose rice, stewed soup, light and delicious 😋I went to That Light Coffee Shop for two days in a row. The owner was very chatty and recommended some great food and fun things to do in town. ✨Tips: Although the fishing season has begun, the seafood is not yet at its plumpest. We recommend visiting between October and November, when the seafood is at its best!❗️
