Perched above the roaring sea, where the dolerite cliffs seem to cleave the sky, we arrived to the usual spectacle—vast ocean, plunging cliffs, moody skies—but then nature surprised us. A rainbow arched across the bay, bold and vivid, as if drawn deliberately across the horizon. It was one of those rare travel moments—pure, unscripted magic. The mist lifted just enough for the sun to break through, casting a golden light over the cliff faces and illuminating the waves below in shimmering turquoise. The rainbow lingered long enough for photos, but more importantly, long enough for silence. The lookout is easily accessible by car, located a short drive from Port Arthur. The viewing platform is just a gentle walk from the carpark, making it the perfect pause even on a packed itinerary.
