Exploring The Ruins of an Old Cement Factory in Bellevue

Bellevue, MI, USA One of the most fascinating abandoned places I've come to explore in Michigan is the Burt Portland Cement Company in Bellevue just north of Battle Creek. The Cement Company operated from 1906-1928 but they suffered from bankruptcy and ended up closing down. The factory was never torn down though and it just sits there and waits, left to rot over the next decades. The old ruins stands hidden among the brush, weeds, and trees. There are lots of underground tunnels and tall brick walls to climb as well as a few sets of steps. Alot of it has been spray painted with graffiti all over the place and been littered. It's become a place where local teens go to have campfires, explore, and cause trouble. There are many things to watch out for if you go here to explore like random holes, poison ivy, and sharp shards of material. It's cool to adventure there and see how nature has taken over and there's also a small lake next to it that has a boardwalk you can check out as well.
