Off the Beaten Path in Turkey | Eskisehir, a World Heritage Town.

Eskisehir: A historic city in northwestern Turkey with a hint of artistic flair, Eskisehir is located at an altitude of 790 meters on the banks of the Porsuk River. I think it's worth a visit, especially for families with children. The streets and bridges of the city are designed in a European (Italian-style) style, but some places are very Japanese. It's a quiet and comfortable small city, and it took us less than 20 minutes to get to each attraction from the city center. Parking is free everywhere. Before we came, we checked online and found that there are at least 10 museums in this small city of Eskisehir. Due to time constraints, we only visited three of them during our short holiday. We went to the Modern City Museum in the city center, a three-story building. As an art student, I quite liked it. The design style inside is more modern, with some nice graphic and art works, as well as silent art films introducing local culture, which are profound and very interesting. Nearby is a characteristic commercial district, which is common in many tourist cities. Tourists shuttle between different shops and cafes on the staggered streets, and the handicrafts and art ornaments are dazzling. We also visited two nearby ancient historical and cultural museums. As this is one of the important turning points of the ancient Silk Road Economic Belt and one of the most important industrial cities in Turkey, the first aircraft factory was established here. The historical exhibits of the oldest aircraft, locomotives, cars, biscuit factories, printed products, currency issuance, etc. are quite rich. A quiet walk around will benefit you a lot. This is one of the reasons why I think this place is suitable for family trips. Children can not only go sightseeing with their parents but also gain a lot of knowledge. In addition, there are beautiful parks and castles in the city center. On the sparkling lake, there are white swans living leisurely and pirate ships open to tourists. The scene design and details inside the ship show the life of ancient Turkish people at sea. Not far away, there is an aquarium, a zoo, and a Japanese garden and botanical garden designed by a Japanese designer. It feels like being in the East again. At the same time, Eskisehir is also a world-famous meerschaum producing area. High-quality imported meerschaum pipes are quite expensive, so tourists who have the opportunity to travel here and are interested in meerschaum should not miss the opportunity.
