Shidong Temple, a hidden gem

We drove from Fengqing County along National Highway 357 and County Road 058. The 26 km journey took us an hour as the mountain roads were winding and rugged. We had lunch at the temple. Shidong Temple was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties and has been a Taoist temple since ancient times. It is named after the two pavilions that stand opposite each other in the clouds. The temple is surrounded by beautiful scenery, including a lotus pond, a small bridge, a corridor, and a 500-year-old camellia tree that is still in bloom. The surrounding bamboo forest and misty air made us forget the hardships of the journey.
