Castillo Sohail Park in Fuengirola

Castillo Sohail (Sohail Castle) is an old fortification build already year 965 AD by Emir Abd-ar-Rahman III to help in coastal defence. The castle itself is has been renovated by the town of Fuengirola to make it a suitable place for concerts and other festivals. It’s practically an outdoor arena. The park around the castle is a suitable place for picnic or a little walk, jogging or just sitting and enjoying the day. There are also excavated stone ruins in the western base of the hill which date back to Roman Empire, year 300 BC. If you forget to take your own picnic food with you, there’s a bar just on the foot of the hill near the bridge crossing Rio de Fuengirola (in the last picrure).
