Afternoon Tea at THE LOUNGE & BAR, Courtyard by Marriott Fukui

I visited the newly opened Courtyard by Marriott Fukui. Today is a rainy and cloudy day. I had pre-arranged a lettering service for the birthday week afternoon tea. The afternoon tea is held on the 16th floor at THE LOUNGE & BAR, which is on the same level as the reception. The seating is by the window, offering a view of Fukui Station and the distant Hakusan mountain range. However, due to the cloudy weather, Hakusan, one of Japan's three famous mountains, is hidden behind the clouds. The drink selection includes one drink, and they continuously refill hot water for the loose-leaf tea. The performance of pouring hot water is quite entertaining. The menu consists of six types of sweets and seven types of savory items. Additionally, there is a scone plate and a parfait plate topped with ice cream and fresh strawberries, adding to the richness of the experience. The savory items are simple yet delightful, and the sweets, with their combination of strawberries and cream, are perfectly balanced. This place truly stands out as the strongest contender in the Hokuriku region. While the formal and capitalistic hospitality in Tokyo or Kyoto is impressive, the slightly unpolished yet heartfelt service here in Fukui brings a smile to my face. Thank you.
