Visit to Kushida Shrine in Japan

Located in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, Kushida Shrine (櫛田神社) is a historic shrine founded in 757. It is affectionately known as 'Okushida-san' by local residents. The shrine enshrines deities of longevity and commercial prosperity and is considered the guardian of the Hakata region. Every July, the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival, designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Japan, takes place. Kushida Shrine serves as the starting point and central stage of this festival, playing a significant role. Even outside the festival period, visitors can enjoy the sight of a 13-meter-tall decorative float displayed within the shrine grounds.
