⛩️Washio Atago Shrine⛩️Fukuoka's oldest hill fire shrine

🎋Atago Shrine is located at the top of Atago Mountain in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City, where you can overlook the city. Founded in 72 AD (during the reign of the 12th Emperor Keikyu), this is the oldest shrine in Fukuoka, enshrining Izanagi-son, Izanagi-son, Hibana-reigin, and Amenin-ho-no-mikoto. 🎋It is one of the three major Atago Shrines in Japan, along with Tokyo and Kyoto. It is especially famous for the demon-breaking arrow and bear hand presented by the lord of Fukuoka domain, Kuroda Tadayuki. In recent years, it has become a famous place for cherry blossom and maple viewing. 🎋It is really comfortable to climb the mountain in the early morning. After worshipping, you can leisurely look at the city view behind the worship hall, which is really relaxing. 🎋The social workers were very friendly and polite, and I even got free cookies, which was very heartwarming. #Fukuoka Attractions
